what is the benefit of having the checkbox for allowing non-market apps? Haven't all the apps we have been installing non-market (i.e. until recently they were all side-loaded)? Does Android OS check for "market" app? Just trying to understand this.
I'm sorry but how do you move the files to /system/app?
I rooted with the nooter2 sd card technique.
I tried using astro but it wont' let me paste.
I tried using mobile-terminal in su with mv NookColorTools_0.2.apk /system/app and get a "-cross-linked" error.
Any ideas?
if you go to all settings what is the second settings for? whenI click on it it asks what gsm band I want to use does the Nc have a radio chip in it?
I put this in system/app and nothing happened. Do I needed to change the permissions?
Edit: I changed the permissions and and its working now.
Where are apk files stored by android. I downloaded my favorite keyboard from the market. Now I can't find it so I can move it.
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App

This little tidbit of knowledge is going to save me a lot of frustration. Also, thanks for the hard work!if you find yourself on a screen without a back button, remember that you can swipe left over the notification bar at the bottom, if it's showing.
greetings, nookies
i just threw together this app for the NookColor. it gives you access to hidden system settings, and allows you to select soft keyboards that are installed.
it's super basic and ugly right now, but i hope it will come in handy. i plan to expand and refine it as time goes on.
when you click the All Settings button, you'll see a list of all the available preference panels. note that some of them don't work. not sure why.
for info on installing other keyboards, see this thread.
as usual, i accept no responsibility if this messes up your device. use at your own risk.
