Just tried this program with the new ICS MIUI that came out.

Was wondering, currently I have one folder with all shortcuts in it and have this folder on a second screen.

I have Alt Drawer shortcut in the dock on my main screen.

Is there a way to get rid of the folder with the shortcuts on the second screen since I have the Alt Drawer program or do I have to keep it there?

The only way is to use an alternate launcher..... At that point you wouldn't need this program though most likely

love your app only request is if you could add an option to list out the apps alphabetically like in the attached picture's manner and the alphabetic labels could be collapsible on top of your already nice customability.....
i would gladly pay for an app drawer with such functions :)

pictured app is 'faster drawer' from market, its an alright app just that its quite stiff in the customization department.....

Those are not 'Shortcuts' but the real apps!
"deleting'" them would mean uninstalling them :)
since there is no native app drawer in MIUI you have to keep all your programs in one folder and not try to delete them :)

Well, so we can close this thread... I sent him all my source code and new features, so that app will be the new Alt Drawer, sorry, but I can't continue.

The new features I've sent him:

CHANGELOG:

NEW FEATURES
- Folders
- Drag and drop for common actions and folder interaction
- Filter apps pressing search button
- Ability to act as a launcher
- Save more than one backup

IMPROVEMENTS
- Faster app loading
- Settings screen rearranged
- Improved icons resolution
- Scrolling
- Open application from hidden apps screen
- Able to show hidden apps from options menu, too.
- Excluded AltDrawer from recent apps
- Better looking for list and home button
- Check for updates at startup

BUGS FIXES
- When app list changes, does not scroll to top
- No more duplicated apps
- Fixed FC when selecting all apps on grid style or horizontal paged style.
- Bug when restoring edited app and trying to edit again
- Sorting by installation date now is installation date, not last app update.
- Sorting, now ignores accents and other marks.
- Wallpaper bg transparency was wrong, 0 is now opaque, like custom image as bg.

I don't know if he will adopt all or none, so wait for his next release.

Thanks to everyone ;)

CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT HERE :)

I even sent him all my source code and new features. Thanks to everyone for that all support comments, but this is the end, I can't continue the development by myself :( Enjoy the new app ;)

Aw, this is very sad, but I understand. Such a great app, I'm glad you've at least decided to pass along your work for continued development. Good luck in your future endeavors :)

So who is continuing the development of this app? When I set a personal background image for the app it looks perfect in portrait but when I turn it in to landscape the image becomes stretched...is there any way to fix this?

Finally! A list view on my nexus. I didn't know that area of the launcher was called the "App drawer". Now I go research on how to make it the default app handler when I want to access the drawer. Thanks again.

Hi, xda people, this is my first app. It's an alternative app drawer (launcher independent) in which you can choose between GRID view (default on all launchers), LIST view (WP7 like) or HORIZONTAL PAGED view (iPhone like). Perfect for people who doesn't have a drawer, like MIUI users, but avaiable for everyone who wants an highly customizable drawer: you can change any option you want :D

    CHANGELOG:

    • Added french, greek, italian and dutch translations (Thanks to Tydi, dancer_69, tiwiz and Duncank)
    • App list loads at boot in background (Enable from settings)
(BETA. Maybe some apps won't appear listed because they loaded after AltDrawer started, for example if they were installed in sd card, so you have to click "Refresh" after SD mounted)

    • Dutch (Duncank)
And, finally, the apk. It's free and full. Not ads, not lite version. :D

    DOWNLOAD!

Obvious tip: Move a shortcut of AltDrawer and replace the old app drawer of your launcher :D

IMPORTANT, IF YOU'RE ROOT DO THE FOLLOWING:
PREVENT ALTDRAWER FROM CLOSING WHEN IT IS IN BACKGROUND

Move the app to the internal memory before doing this. And recommendable to convert back to user-app (after moving to the internal memory) and reboot before updating.
Move the apk (once installed) from /data/app/com.xuso.altdrawer.apk to /system/app/
    Restart phone.

    OR

With Titanium Backup go to Copy/Restore tab, long click on Alt Drawer and select "Convert to system app"
    Restart phone.

If you're not root, don't worry you can use the app perfectly too (But you should think about becoming root, it rocks :p)

Thanks to NiMH_999 for this trick ;)

    ICON CONTEST

If you like to design the new AltDrawer icon, just follow this points and send me a PM with your design :)

    - Must be nice :p
    - Must be related to the app
    - 128x128 px at least

WINNER OF THE CONTEST: ebbinger_413 :D

    HI AGAIN!

I'll try to fix all the existing bugs and implement new features. All can I say now is that I've started again to develop Alt Drawer :)

Well, I can say this, too:
I DON'T KNOW WHEN THE NEXT VERSION WILL BE RELEASED, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK.

I'm doing this for you guys, but my time is the same that when I wrote a few days ago :p so don't push me

It will be the 1.0, the wait may be long, but I hope it worth :D

BTW, I'm adding a poll to the first post, please vote

This is wonderful with miui. Many thanks.

Is anyone else running into duplicate entries when an apk is installed from the sd?

Yeah, that is already fixed for the next release.

Take care when updating if you did the system-app trick. Make a backup of the preferences and DB in /data/data/com.xuso.altdrawer. Convert it to user-app, update, convert it again to system-app and, if FC, reboot phone ;)
