CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Install
First time installing CyanogenMod 10.1 to your LG Optimus Me, or coming from another ROM:
- Install CWM6 Sorry, CM cannot provide support for other recoveries, although they may work fine. If you already have a recovery known to work with CM10, you can skip this step.
- Enter into Recovery Mode
- Make a BACKUP
- Format everything other then Sd card (Full format is must needed when you flash cm10.1 1st time)
- Flash the CM10.1 zip
- Reboot
- boot into recovery mode
- Install gapps
- Reboot
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 10.1:
- Boot into Recovery
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache
- Flash CM10.1 zip
- Reboot
