Doesn't matter. You can try whatever brightness setting you want. It won't affect whether it shows black clipping or not.
What does Samsung have to say about this? Are they aware of the issue? Are they working on a fix? Will it be fixed on the new ICS Galaxy suite update? Do we have to wait for AT&T to get fix from samsung and then wait another 4 months for AT&T to send it out us? Is AT&T aware of the issue? Has anyone told PhoneArena, Android Police, or contacted the Press and Media? Should I justt return my Note and never buy Samsung again? This makes me really mad the N7000 was released back in Oct and has this issue and it still has not been addressed? We spend $650 for a phone because of the big display and it has black clipping?
The browser does the same thing with most youtube videos, but they all end up with washed out grays instead of blacks. When I open up the test screen using the browser, the resulting image looks pretty good with the gradual black fade to nothing. but using quickpic and gallery, it shows the clipping. What's the difference?
I have reported this issue to Samsung itself, Engadget, Android Police, Phandroid, and quite a few others -- yet NONE of those entities have even acknowledged the problem.
I have also been asking everyone to report the issue to the same blogs and media outlets. PLEASE DO SO!!!
I've been sending them the following links:

The Samsung rep straight-up lied to you. They have said the same to each and every person who has reported the issue, including me.I talked with someone at Samsund today after I ran this test and he said this was the 1st time it's been reported I thought this was also an issue on the N7000 and was reported? I guess Samsung doesn't think there is a problem with this.
Sorry for the poor quality, but I think it at least shows I have more of a gradual gradient type of screen situation. My first Note had a screen similar to the OP's.

I'm seriously considering sending a blast message out to every major media outlet in the country, but I'm not sure exactly how to do that... lol
Once proven, if done correctly, this kind of thing could really harm their sales if they fail to address it in a timely fashion.
The fact that the problem occurs with popular services like Netflix might be the way to gain reaction, but it's extremely difficult to demonstrate that fact on a mass scale...??

Your pic - On my laptop I can't see past 6 or so. On my note, I see all the way to 1 and the drop off to black.
Your skyrocket photo actually looks better on the left side than any photo I've seen of a Note so far. I'm looking forward to seeing an actual picture of your Note.Lol....the photo i posted is 4 samsung skyrockets...all with a completely different screen....
Believe it.
When i have some free time i will post a pic but it looks like the guy just above with the white note (which i notice is being picked apart now too)
I can definitely see why I have had such a hard time understanding the issue when discussing it with palehorse in the other threads.
Mine doesnt seem to have the issue/or at least not as bad as others.
As i mentioned in the other thread... Any clip or pic that I have seen clipping/crush on I have played on other devices and seen that same clipping and crush on those exact spots on those devices
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
