Newest radio pri nv all that jazz. Myn's rls4. Have 4g in my neighborhood. This cut my data dl in half. Flashed with standard protocol. No bootloops restored fine. Had 4g signal.

Using Calk's EViO 3.70 v1.7.1 ROM and the phone booted up fine. Have not tested the corresponding modification but I can say it works. Here is a link to the services.jar for this ROM.

I have no home internet. I used 3g wifi tether for the last 3 years, going back to my touch diamond, then the hero, and now my evo.
I have used an average of 10 gb a month. Sometimes as much as 20. (shhh... Don't tell anyone but I download torrent movies...) ;-)
I now use 4g even more. I even stream netflix to my tivo... Alot.
I have never noticed a cap or a throttle.
They claimed they would cap, but they never did with the hero and diamond. But my rep said the extra $10 bucks evo users pay is not for 4g anymore. Too many people complained about having to pay it without 4g in their area, the $10 service its now called an internet premium charge giving you unlimited data.
They do not cap or throttle ever... In my experience, and they certainty don't throttle evo or epic users.
I still get 8-10mbps at the end of my billing cycle after a 20 gb month.

i agree, i had the epic and the heroc never once had an issue with throttling.. no im on the g2 with tmobile and bam i hit 5.3 GB and got a text freaking out and i was locked to edge speeds (pre-3g)
True dat lol I use about 30 - 35gbs a month and i get 1.2 - 2.2mbps on average on 3g
Well reading that it seems that this mod would do nothing to us sprint users as it says other carriers evidently control the throttling via OTA.
Sprint only throttles the upload speed to 1Mbps, either 3G or 4G. Any data through the phone or through the paid Sprint tethering app shouldnt be throttled no matter how much data you use.

not if you had unlimited 3g before they capped it. if you did, its still truly unlimited.
Anyone using this still have throttled 4G upload?
Hell the file wont even install on Myn RLS4, some verification with the file isn't there. :/
Going to try method 2 if I get feedback on this.
How do you people get such incredible 4g speeds? I commute between Corpus Christi (TX), San Marcos (TX), and Austin (TX), and I never get more than 4 or 5mbps and those speeds are very infrequent. I can NEVER get more than a few minutes of continuous 4G coverage when driving through "supposed" coverage areas (clearly highlighted throughout Sprint's local brochures.)
I probably average 5mbps, just peaking at 10 during a large download. It seems to get faster the bigger the DL. If I test with the speedtest app it usually says 4mbps.
So as you drive through testing the connection you'll probably only get those lower results.
I also can't seem to get wireless tether above about 3 mbps. I can only get 10 mbps with wired tether.
Do others have this problem?

1. What does this do?
This is a modification to the services.jar framework file, that allows you to have an un-throttled internet.
2. Will this make my internet faster?
Yes and No. This will not "Upgrade" your internet. This only takes the trottle off, so you can download, or play games and not have to worry about it hitting a certain peak and lagging from that point on. It doesn't provide you with a new internet, only a warm fuzzy feeling from knowing you don't have to worry about it capping off.
3. If I flash this, will it break my phone?
If it did, yours would be the first case I heard of. I've personally flashed it NUMEROUS times.
4. Will this work on any ROM?
Yes. This is not based off a particular ROM, and can be used with ANY EVO ROM. ALTHOUGH If you're Dev has made changes to the services.jar file, this could wipe those changes out. If you are unsure, send me your services.jar file, and i will look for you. Hopefully, i'll be able to make a download list in a couple days with all the Dev's services.jar files, so you can download that specific one. You can always ask your Dev.
5. Do I have to be rooted?
Yes. In order to be able to flash this, you are going to need to have root with a custom recovery. I.E. Amon_Ra.

Simply download, and place on the root of your sdcard. Then go into recovery and flash it as you would a ROM. Done.

You can follow this method if you're Services.jar framework is already modified, or if you aren't sure.
1. Download these 2 files:
[fixed link for baksmili- op you can remove this line when u get to it ]
2. Create 2 folders on your C: Drive labeled "Smali" and "Baksmali". (This is for easy access to the folders when being cd'd)
3. Place the 2 downloaded files in the C: Drive folders accordingly. (I.E. Smali.jar in "Smali" folder, and Baksmali.jar in "Baksmali" folder.)
4. Using 7zip or WinRAR (or any other zip program) open the services.jar file that you pulled from your phone. Copy the "classes.dex" file and paste it into the "Baksmali" folder.
5. Open your command prompt and type the following:
- cd C:/Baksmali
- java -Xmx512M -jar baksmali.jar -o classes/ classes.dex
6. Open the newly created "classes" folder (its inside your Baksmali folder that you should already be in) and navigate through "/com/android/server/". Scroll down till you see the 6 or 7 "Throttle" files. They will be located between "TelephonyRegistry" and "TVCableObserver$1$1". DELETE ONLY THE "THROTTLE" FILES.
7. Back out of the folders until you are in the "Baksmali" folder again. Now open the "Smali" folder you created earlier. Place the "classes" FOLDER in the "Smali" folder.
8. Return to your command prompt and type this:
- cd C:/Smali
- java -Xmx512M -jar smali.jar -o classes.dex classes/
9. You should now see a "classes.dex" file in your "Smali" folder. This is the NEW compiled services.jar classes.dex file. Pull up the 7zip or WinRAR file you had open earlier, delete the current classes.dex file from the services.jar, and place the newly compiled one in it's place.
10. Place the services.jar file back into your ROM, and boot up. You are now running Unthrottled.
11. If you do not see the "Throttle" files, don't complain they're not there, your Dev may have already taken them out.

This came DIRECTLY from the sprint store... they had this setup on one of the computers in there, and i figured i'd take a pic and show you guys. For those who doubt the "capping" of data services, here's a little "told ya so" lol ...nah but seriously, take from this what you will. If you don't want to ungovern, don't. It's entirely up to you 1
