1) Wow, this is such an old thread
2) We're now up to Android 4.4, and Face Lock is becoming an "old" feature by now. Most phones are already running ICS or newer, so facelock should be supported by most modern devices.
3) Try that apk on Gingerbread and let me know how that goes
