WINDOWS SETUP

What you will need

XBMC(http://xbmc.org/download/)
SQL(http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/) Optional

Install

First we will need to install XBMC.
Easy Enough!

Setting Up Media

The easiest way I have found is to sort your media like this.
D: Refers to where my media is(eg. my documents)

D:\Music\Band Name\Album\Song.mp3
eg. D:\Music\ A Perfect Circle\Thirteenth Step\ A Perfect Circle - Vanishing.mp3
D:\Videos\TV Series\TV Show Name\TV Show Season Number\Episode.avi
eg. D:\Videos\TV Series\The 100\Season 1\S01E01 - Pilot.avi
D:\Videos\Movies\Movie Name\Movie.avi
eg. D:\Videos\Movies\Dumb and Dumber\Dumb and Dumber.avi

Setting Up SQL

This step is not important but you preferably want to be able to sync the media over the network so you can see what episodes you have watched.

save your advancedsittings.xml on your phone

Scanning The Media

No its time to set up XBMC
Fire up XBMC
Select Music > Files > Add Source
then browse to where the music is stored
eg. D:\Music\
Right Click on the music folder and say scan item to library
Select Videos > Files > Add Source
then browse to where the Videos are stored
eg. D:\Videos\
Open the Videos Folder
Right Click on Series and Set Content to TV Shows
Click Scan For New Content
Right Click on Movies and Set Content to Movies
Click Scan For New Content

Recommendations

I would recommend installing a different skin under addons
I would recommend installing cdart manager to take full advantage of Cdarts and artist logos
my skin of choice is HYBRID
you may also want to enable remote support under
settings > Services

Android Setup

ANDROID SETUP

What you will need

your phone
xbmc for android
(http://xbmc.org/download/)

Install

on the xbmc website there are 2 options one is for ARM and one or x86
if you are not sure which one to use just download them both
to install you will need to enable unknown sources under settings


Setting Up Media

now that xbmc is installed just fire up xbmc and then close it again.
copy the advancedsettings.xml that we saved earlier to
/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/
you may need to enable hidden files if you are using es file explorer

Finishing

you should now have media synced between your device and your computer/server
if you skipped SQL setup you will need to run the scanning media setup in the first post.

Recommendations

I would recommend keeping add-ons on your android device minimal.
I would recommend installing my theme touch me
the theme is based on touched
with a few added features like cdart and artist logos.
