Before you flash please open http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002 in your browser, it should return a Error 404 with LG Electronics Certification in title. If not, make sure you start shttp web server and proper edit host file. Your host file should look like this

Root again with new modified batch file

EVERYONE ROOT AGAIN WITH NEW MODIFIED BATCH FILE

Those who rooted on 5th March 2013 or before should try ROOTING AGAIN with modified batch file by AngryWolf80 (thanks to him), which removes the process of rooting on every boot. Now its one time rooting only. It also replaces the original hdcp.sh file and removes some vulnerabilities in previous method. Working fine and confirmed by successful tests.:good: And this also enabled you to update SuperSU, Binaries and BusyBox, which was not possible with old method.

I was on P765 V10India KDZ ROM. I rooted again with same KDZ+BIN and all data, settings and apps remained as it is. But I suggest all to still take backup as usual, to avoid any unexpected issues.:cool:

For me this point didn't work. I had to connect phone with booted android, and after LG firmware app extracted firmware, my phone rebooted to software upgrade mode. Maybe this will help someone :)

Possible. But explain what do you mean by "this point didn't work"? Was there any error? More details of your error will also help many to avoid it.

Its actually very easy to get phone in SW Upgrade mode manually. Many people also forget to put phone in Debugging Mode in developer section.

When I connected phone in SW mode, LG-Firmware application on PC could not connect to phone. It printed info "reconnect usb cable, wait a while and click retry" (or similar :p). After I connected phone turned ON, it successfully recognized IMEI, model and other stuff, and after a while my phone rebooted itself to SW mode.

I rooted yesterday about 5PM or 6PM and when I reboot the phone still shows as rooted with Root Checker. Should I still root again? When was the new batch file added? Today or yesterday?

Thats fine, thats LG update tools general behaviour. If anyone cannot connect properly, can try that.

just check your "RootLelus" folder. If you find "hdcp.sh", that means you rooted with new modified batch file. If you dont have that file, its Lelus's original command file which have some vulnerabilities. Everytime phone restarts, it roots phone. Better root with new method for one time root and you will be able to UPDATE SUPERSU, binaries and busybox from google playstore.

Hi there, Im trying to root my P768, but im stuck at step one. I cant find the KDZ file for my phone.

I think my phone is from Taiwan but im not sure, and its running V10C but the link for this KDZ is not working on this thread. I also tried the Rom linker - Option B and it suggested V10B?

Software Version is: P76810c-466-92

What should I do? (Ive tried this rooting method and I got the error after reboot)

The latest KDZ for taiwan P768 is V10E ....

Its link is working fine. I even downloaded 4 percent and then stopped. This is factory unrooted kdz. You can root with new lelus method by making your own bin file (easy tutorial for making bin file)

Friend I already read your tutorial for hex editing and is really simple, i didn´t see your tutorial before, I will do the editing and provide the edited hex file for V10A Brazil, for everyone to use, best regards and thanks for your efforts

See, im not 100% sure its from taiwan. Im guessing by the language written on the box and because there is only 1 P768 rom which is V10C and thats Taiwan. So is that enough to say its from Taiwan?

I guess the next step is flashing the V10E software then following the tutorial?

Sorry, im trying to make sure im doing it right, I had a Huawei Honor and changing firmwares completely bricked it, its made me super hesitant! :p

I dont know about whats written on your box. This link I provided is taken from LG server and as per information this link provides is, it is released for China and Taiwan region on 22-Feb-2013. The link itself contains the name of country it is released for. (LGP768/ATWNBK) It is for P768 for sure and it is for Taiwan for sure. Company will not put "TWN" in link, if it is not for Taiwan.

Now the only way you can find out is, download, flash and see for yourself. With your choice and with your risk. Good Luck. :)

lolz, wait...., Now as promised I downloaded whole 485MB file, extracted, hex-edited bin and uploaded for you. Find it in OP. Tell me if it works. Hope this helps. :D

i see that before flash i have into C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone LGP760_AP[1].bin LGP760_AP[2].bin etc etc of v10A... but i flash v10A with kdz method (first method)...so, this method that works with offline flash, not work for me (windows 7) can i try to put LGP760_AP[6].bin modified to C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone and use kdz method?

    OLD GUIDE, VISIT ABOVE LINK

    [GUIDE] Root L9 ICS/Jelly Bean with New Lelus method and Offline Flash     (1st and 2nd post)
    (NOTE: This thread is only for NOOBS like me and for Junior Members.)

    ATTENTION: THIS WORKS ON ICS/JELLYBEAN with both locked/unlocked bootloader.
    But Go here for FASTER Root L9 JB/ICS on Unlocked Bootloader.
    To understand and perform Flashing L9, you should read all following threads carefully before starting.

    1. GUIDE TO NEW ROOT L9 WITH LELUS METHOD AND FLASH L9 (this post)
    2. LELUS THREAD to Root L9 Thanks to Lelus (GUIDEPOST BY ARTIT Thanks to Artit for his preliminary guide)
    3. JELLY BEAN ROOTING FILES BY ANGRYWOLF80's
    4. TUTORIAL ON OFFLINE FIX FLASH METHOD by me << VERY IMPORTANT HERE
    5. COLLECTION OF READY-MADE HEX-EDITED BIN FILES (in second post) by me. BIN files ready to download and flash. Now includes Jelly Bean files too.
    6. MAKE YOUR OWN HEX-EDITED BIN FILE EASILY again by me :D
      If anyone want to learn and still want to make their own HEX EDITED BIN files from their own KDZ, its really very easy. You dont have to download huge files again, and will be able to make your own edited BIN from the KDZ you already downloaded before. To support Rooting L9 with Lelus Method, I am uploading and collecting the readily HEX-EDITED BIN files. Now you dont have to worry for Bricking with wrongly EDITED BIN file. This will AVOID the process of editing HEX file, which may be bit confusing for some noobs like me :D
    ============================
    SPECIAL THANKS TO LELUS AND ANGRYWOLF80 FOR THEIR TEAM WORK.

    1. LELUS: This Rooting Method is not my original work AND ALL CREDIT GOES TO LELUS WHO GAVE THIS NEW CONCEPT OF HEX-EDITING OF BIN AND A SH SCRIPT TO RUN BEFORE FLASH. Without Lelus this thread might not exist.
    2. ANGRYWOLF80: I am really thankful to him for providing a solution with changes in Lelus's script so the SU is not copied on every boot and also made changes to avoid mounting system in RW mode, keeping original hdcp.sh file without changes. The current improved modified BatchFile is by him. This removes some vulnerabilities.
      Also thanks to him for JELLYBEAN ROOTING FILES. Pals, he really worked hard for this. Press THANKS button on his thread.
    3. Adixtra and Unknown_world : Makers of Offline Fix Flashing Method. Without them Flashing Guide was not possible.
    GUIDEBOOK STEPS
    =============
    0) Precautions:
    ___A) Select "Debugging Mode" as ON (Ticked) in Phone Settings (Developer Section)
    ___B) Select "Install from Unknown Sources" as ON (Ticked) in Phone Settings (Security Section)
    ___C) Indian version of L9 does not come with "Lookout Security Antivirus" already installed. But KDZ from other countries may have it already installed, FORCE CLOSE AND UNINSTALL it from app manager. If you cannot uninstall, at least DISABLE it. This program is known to be preventing connection and rooting of device.
    ___D)OFFLINE KDZ FLASHING DOES NOT LOOSE PHONE DATA, BUT YOU MUST BACKUP YOUR PHONE IN ANY CASE.

    1) Download Hex-Edited BIN file and related KDZ file (on same line) in exact combination shown in SECOD POST BELOW. If you already have downloaded exact KDZ from this post, then you dont need to download KDZ again, just download matching BIN file.

    2)
    FOR ICS Download >>> Root_and_Flash_Guide_byCMahendra(date).zip
    FOR JellyBean Download >>> RootJB_and_Flash_Guide_byCMahendra_AngryWolf80(31-Mar).zip

    Either choose ICS version or JB and extract in your C-Drive.

    Now you will get three folders named "C:\RootLelus" and "C:\RootFlash" and "C:\shttps"

    3) Install Drivers: "LG USB Driver (Download 3.8.1 here)"

    4) Optional if installed before: Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser by running "msxml.msi" file in "RootFlash" folder.

    5) Connect Phone to PC with USB in "MTP" mode, let all drivers install for detected hardware items, then in "Charge Only" Mode, let all drivers install, then in "PTP" mode and let all drivers install, LASTLY connect in "LG SOFTWARE" Mode and let all drivers install. Don't neglect anything, it will save OUR :D time.
    IMPORTANT: Weirdly windows will try to install its own WDM drivers searching online in internet. Do not let it install like that. It will be stuck with longer time or it will just fail to install drivers.
    Solution: Always Click the link/button "Skip Obtaining Driver....." shown in this screenshot, so pc will install only original LG drivers for all devices in all usb modes.

    6) Keep phone in "LG SOFTWARE" Mode and wait until it is connected. Now at this moment Device Manager should show 3 entries like this. If not, flashing will not work. (This is Important Checklist Step)

    7) ADB MODE: Now start Windows Command Prompt with "Run As Administrator" option. Try to ping any website, if you SEE THIS DOS ERROR (SCREENSHOT) you are not in Admin mode and you need to try again. (THIS IS IMPORTANT CHECKLIST)

    Now pass following commands in lower case as adb command is "case sensitive"

    C:\>CD \RootLelus
    C:\RootLelus>stuff\adb devices

    ***For Jellybean the folder will be "RootLelusJB" instead of "RootLelus"
    Now your device should be shown as "List of Attached Devices" like this result in screenshot. (Important Checklist Step)

    This means your device is ready to take ADB Commands. PLZ DONT IGNORE THIS CHECKLIST. If fails, check cables, reinstall drivers, restart pc, connect cable directly on motherboard USB port and try again from first step.

    8) This is important root preparation for Rooting before Flashing. Now Run a batch file "RootL9" on command prompt with following commands.

    This simple automated command batch-file (RootL9.bat) will copy necessary files to special locations and will set some necessary permissions.

    When done, REMOVE USB CABLE AND POWER OFF THE PHONE.

    9) NOW ACTUAL KDZ FLASHING STARTS AND THEN A QUICK MAGIC TRICK IS TO BE PERFORMED.

    ___9A) Add lines in "hosts" file as mentioned in step 1 of this post.
    ___9B) Start "SmallServer" as mentioned in step 2 of same post

    10) Now follow all steps from all 3 to 10 from this original flashing post. In 11th of original flashing post your have to do following magic.

    11) ACTUAL MAGIC:
    After LG UPDATE TOOL starts, wait for following message in RED SENTENCE.

    When you see this message and update meter reaches to 8%, then
    quickly open this folder "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone"
    and look for extracted bin files, if you see the same name as BIN file you downloded (LGP765_AP[6].bin or LGP765_AP[11].bin), replace it with the one you downloaded earlier (which is already HEX-EDITED).
    Press "Continue" if windows asks you for permission to copy and replace.

    Folder not found? Workaround: Copy this "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone" and paste in windows explorer at top, the folder should open directly, then replace file. In one of the rarest case, in WIN XP machine the folder was found here "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LGMOBILEAX\Phone" in this post.

    Still problems? Check this post too.

    Let flashing complete, and you are done. YOU HAVE JUST ROOTED L9!!! Phone should now reboot with working SuperUser. If SuperUser ForceCloses, just restart phone once again.

    12) CWM Recovery Installation on ICS: This rooting does not install ClockWorkMod. First run SuperSU and install SUBinary if it asks to install and then visit this thread to install L9 Recovery Installer by Artas182x. First install this app and then run app and install Recovery.

    CWM Recovery Installation on Jelly Bean: Please follow AngryWolf80's thread for installing CWM. If you dont find the information, post your question in his thread.


    13) BUSYBOX Re-Installation: According AngryWolf80, he found some new vulnerabilities and recommended to uninstall BUSYBOX and REINSTALL it as per this thread and these instructions. Though this is applicable to the Root File released on 6th March, but these instructions by AngryWolf80, can be tried by anyone just to install and update busybox.

    ========================================
    Troubleshooting

    1) After step 2: If extracted folders need any permissions, then you should provide in folder security section by adding user "everyone" or "<yourname>" and give full access. (example video) This is Optional and should be done if you have permission errors while flashing. Do it for all three folders.

    2) About 11th Step: The most common problem is you may not be able to replace the file in LG folder in quick time. You have to be very quick, so the FOLDER should be open in advance. You can even open the folder in the beginning and minimize until it is required to replace. If you are late, the LG TOOL will flash original file and root will fail. Or you can open the folder immediately when it starts at 4% and keep looking for file to replace. As soon as you see 7th BIN file PASTE it with 6th BIN, you already COPY'ed before.

    Thanks     a lot to all HEX-EDITED BIN contributors. I     downloaded most KDZ's (500+-mb) just for the sake of making perfect BIN files.     :D

    NOTE: This thread is only for NOOBS like me and for Junior Members.

     I am sure experts who can edit hexfiles without any error, should not have any objection if this thread stays and serves junior members. :) Good Luck all Elnaainians (L9ians)

    I made some modifications to Lelus scripts, updated su and busybox binaries and changed Superuser.apk to SuperSu.
    Now after first start script will do rooting phone, cleans all remnants and restores hdcp.sh file to it original state.
    Just checked it on two phones - works flawlessly.

    PS: respect to Lelus, very neat root trick :good:

    NOOB'S TUTORIAL TO MAKE YOUR OWN HEX-EDITED BIN FILE EASY WAY
    ===========================================

    1) Download and save on pc your required matching KDZ file found here in this post. You also need a Good HEX File Editor like this one I use. Download and Install.

    2) I have already made a small TOOL to extract the KDZ file and get BIN chunks in this post (KDZ EXTRACTION TOOL) with this, you will get "LGP765_AP[6].bin" file ready for editing and use in RootFlashing later.

    3) Download LELUS_COPY_OF_BIN.zip (1kb) and unzip it, and you will get "LELUS_COPY_OF_BIN.BIN" (1kb) file. Open it in HEX Editor, select all and "COPY" the content in clipboard to paste later.

    4) Now in same HEX Editor, open "LGP765_AP[6].bin" and search for "# hdcp.sh" and your cursor will stop on this string after successful search. If not found in this file then search in "LGP765_AP[5].bin" file.

    5) Click on first hash character # and "PASTE" the content you copied from previous file.

    6) Now compare your new content as per this attached image file, if extra characters are found below, erase them carefully and SAVE the file. You'r done! Isn't it simple.

    You have just EDITED A HEX FILE required for ROOTING L9.
