Yeah, your issue is that you didn't read the only instruction in the OP. Uninstall the Market version BEFORE installing his version.

Installed previous than this (V17) version on my SGS +, running GB 2.3.6 XXKQB (value pack) with 2.6.35.7-SkyHigh kernel... everything works fine, except my camera/s are black, but I can see the other persons video.

Tried both "if black screen" and "force camera" options, and nothing...

Any ideas?

I've read this instruction, the fact is that I just didn't install the market version before, I restore directly the previous skype mod via Titanium Backup. But I will try to uninstall skype and reinstall your last mod, and let you know.

EDIT : indeed, uninstalling skype and re-installing it solves the problem, although it was just an update of the previous mod... Sorry for the post !

theos0o what's the proper way to extract a file from a .apk then replace it with something else like you did with your custom Skype v2 builds?

For some reason both the stock v2 Skype versions and yours crash a lot on me, sometimes hang up when I answer a call or sometimes even dial.

I reverted to an old 1.0.0.984 version and it works fine for me except the ringtone is super low.

I tried renaming the .apk to .zip, deleting the incoming call wav and replacing it with my own and then renaming it back to .apk. But when I go to install it it says the application wasn't installed.
(There is a ringtone picker in 1.0.0.984 but it never saves my setting and resets back to "default" all the time for some reason)

With a louder ringtone an older version would be great.

I wish I could use your v2 mods but doesn't seem to be working out even with stock v2. I'm using MIUI-2.3.30 on a Nexus One.

There's no need to rename it to .zip.
Just open the APK using WinRAR or some other archiver, and replace whatever you want.

Then you need to sign the APK (using apk manager) and install.

Nexus S v17 Skype feedbak

I have a GSM Nexus S google phone. ( I keep this phone because phones are expensive and I like the fact that it is small compare to Samsung S3)

Skype's low ringtone and volume bothered me a lot so I decided to try your modifications. They are great. Still the camera rotation does not function and it stays in landscape all the time. Also for some reason after 10 sec , under all settings for the front and back camera, the image suddenly goes bury.

Skype video is basically not worth the headache on my Android phone but thank a lot for the ringtone changeability.

If you're asking if it works on the Galaxy S3, then yes it does. I use it on mine.

The official skype app can't detect my front camera like other apps.
Can you mod Instagram for me and other people who most app can't detect the camera.

downloaded v14, v16, and 17 front and rear camera is still not working

What am i doing wrong here? i've downloaded the three versions mentioned above and I still cannot get the camera to work. The version of the GS3 i have is the sgh-i747..rooted and on stock rom. I've also changed the limit background processes on my phone to 4 processes at most.

Hi theos0o,

The app detects front and rear cameras but I cannot make a video call.

I can hear the camera initializing, it seems like its starting and then it shows my Skype picture. no problem with audio.

Any chance for a Froyo version?

Regular Skype 2.9.0.315 works in video mode on my gtablet running manufacturer version of android 2.2 but image received by contact is rotated. The v17 modified version causes application failure when selecting the Advanced Settings menu option. Any idea on whether your code fix could be compiled to run successfully on Android v2.2?

Dunno why, but it's standard skype behavier since last update, it's very annoyng...
