What do you think is wrong? What is the boot order before running FOTA?
P.S. files "dbl.mbn" from your BOOTFILES and from S8500XEKC1 are identical

adfree figured out that :So no waste of time to do this on other Firmware. Only for XXJL2 apps_compressed.bin + BOOT from XXJL2.

There are several boot_modes and not all of them include Fota_check. All is checked in SelectBootingMode function that verifies key combination pressed, JIG, power adaptor, boot shared memory and stuff like this. We'll need to investigate it further. Thanks for report.

I "need" only the JTAG Boot... I don't know 4-6 MB should be enough?

my small TO-DO list:
1) Power gauge driver (s5p_fake_driver)
2)Modem (Need research modem control pins and fuel gauge in original S8500 bootloader)
Assemble a new android modem file from the original amss.bin and boot.mbm
3)Make new power driver for kernel with fuel gauge through MSM6270.
4)Little modify android sbl.bin for correct LCD pinout. Disable unused i2c request for fuel gauge.
(this is a temporary solution for developing,not for distribution)
5)first beta version of the Kernel ))

Last state of project:
06/13/2011 Now working on Android 2.3.3 (Source GB for GT-I9000 and M130K)
not working - modem and GPS.
04/04/2011 Memory allocation now is correct!
05/11/2011 I have full schematic for phone
and we're ready to get a fully working kernel.
Full decriptions of GPIO is attached.

Thanks to (in alphabetical order) Mijoma, Nbates66, Oleg_k, Rebellos, Srg.mstr (last but not least) now we have ADB command line mode (in recovery mode now).
For this we use only standard USB data cable:
0. For experts only who will not ask stupid questions in the future.
1. make kernel ( https://github.com/Oleg-k/initramfs_2.6.32_S8500 https://github.com/Oleg-k/S8500_Kernel_2.6.32 ) with modified initramfs/recovery.rc http://code.google.com/p/badadroid/source/browse/trunk/initramfs/recovery.rc?spec=svn179&r=179
2. create "galaxyboot" folder at internal mmc0 card and put there:
2.1 sbl.bin http://code.google.com/p/badadroid/downloads/detail?name=Sbl2FOTA_mijoma2.zip&can=2&q=#makechanges
2.2 zImage
3. create on external mmc2 primary FAT partitions p1, p2 and p3 ( <=1GB ). put there files from factoryfs.rfs > p1, dbdata.tar > p2, cache.rfs > p3.
4. make and upload to phone FOTA http://code.google.com/p/badadroid/source/browse/trunk/FOTA/kernel_boot_sbl.asm?r=179
5. connect USB to phone and hold POWER and CALL buttons.
6. after ~30sec reconnect USB and try to use $ ./adb shell20

Today I got a schematic of main cpu, but due to security, I can't publish it now.
