Which tool to use for exploring ISOLated Storage so I can restore the SMS ?
v0.5 works great now.. Sorry didn't help before.. My computer died during the week end.. LOLTry uninstall the old version first and then install the new version.
If the error still occurs, you can help me find the problem. I rebuild a xap which is enabled to show StackTrace of the exception. So please deploy the file attached and tell me the error in detail, then I'll find and fix the problem, thanks.
OK so the backup works on my focus. Now can the next step be to merge SMS Database from two phones ?
I have created a video demo where I have deleted and restored an SMS to explain how the whole thing works http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbSlXQteVAE
Also find detailed review : http://www.wpxbox.com/restore-wp-sms/
Thanks for your feedbackThx for this app !
I can confirm that it works well on my OMNIA 7 with the latest 8107 build:
I could backup all sms´s from my 1st OMNIA 7 and after that I restored them to my 2nd OMNIA 7. Great !
Hint for OMNIA 7 owners: This app doesn´t work with the latest KK2 Samsung update, because the provxml security hole has been closed by Samsung.

Because backup and restore is only for professional users; you can only backup and restore sms.xml(the app use this file to store all text messages) and store.vol(system sms database) by using an Isolated Storage tool (such as Windows Phone Power Tools: http://wptools.codeplex.com)App works well, thanks!
I have a couple of questions though. Is there a way to download (import) the smsbackup.xml from skydrive, even if it's only to the SMSBackup app?
Also, would it be possible to upload the store.vol to skydrive and bring it back from within smsbackup?
Thanks again!
Your phone must be interop-unlocked before you can deploy the app.dev-unlocked HTC Trophy here. When deploying w/ the app deploy tool, i get error 0x81030120... ideas?
THX for your useful reply. I know there are some problems with LG ProvXML. I hope and wait for the next version of SMSBackup. So you suggest to backup these files manually. Is it possibile with WP7 Root Tools ? Can you write me the path of these two files ? THX in advance
GoodDayToDie,
Thanks for pointing that out.
Both the phones are mine & both have been registered with the same WLID.
I wanted to test restoring SMS from my primary device (HD7) to the Samsung Focus. Both of these are currently running DFT Freedom ROMs.
Perhaps I understood wrongly where the IsolateStorage actually is.
I use WMDC enabler to browse the phone's storage & made manual backups from the HD7 & copied them to the Samsung Focus.
Is that correct?
