Last purchase ever from Dell

Fortunately, I don't have as many problems as some. No Bluetooth issues but wi-fi will lock up sometimes when charging, watching video or DLing from the Marketplace. It's maybe 1 out of every 4 times I try these things, which is way too much. Should be 0-4.

But, regardless of how often I have issues, I can say that I will not purchase a Dell product again. My first and my last.

And, let us all remember... All that glitters ain't gold.

Me too. I was thinking of buying an all-in-one PC from DELL. Now I'm totally not going to buy from Dell. I say hello IBM/Lenovo for that.

Replacement received week of 5-22 no new firmware

Hi all. I bought the Venue Pro in early December or November (I was one of the people who had Christmas Eve delivery) and that unit had the "dust under the top right side of the screen" issue. I had a refurbished replacement (Dell refused to provide a new one) shipped last week and was told that this unit would have the firmware update that fixed intermittent freezing. But... the new unit is exactly the same. Needless to say, it has the same freezing issues. On a side note, the unit has visible bonding residue on the seam in the top right (where the front chrome piece meets the rubberized black back piece) - yuck.

At this point I wonder if Dell will ever fix this issue. Sometimes I think it would be nice to switch the the Focus and see what a good implementation of WP7 feels like, because my Venue Pro is always slow and buggy.

Call back and tell them under no circumstances will you take a refurb.. I have pretty good luck with the CS.. Just let them know you know more about the probe with the phone than they do...

yeah, @lionelatdell tweeted "no #dellvenuepro update today."

I've been searching online for an update from someone who swapped in the sandisk 32gb class 2 card a month or more ago, to hear how it's going now. is it still happpily ever after or has the dvp lapsed back into crashing? the microsd card swappers report great results initially, but does it stay great?

I have an 8gb model and did a factory reset three weeks ago and it was like a new device for the first two weeks, and now it has starting to revert to it's old behavior. I had planned to give their firmware update a shot before buying a new micro sd card.

I haven't used a ton of my storage up yet. I've had some freezes, and there's some lag when viewing the Messages hub, in loading the list of Contacts/Thread, and in loading long messages. I compared it to a friend with a Samsung Focus who has thousands of texts with his girlfriend, and it's so much smoother on his. He said he's never had a single freeze in the many months that he has had his phone.

I went to the DELL Service center in Hyderabad, India...they updated my Firmware to
2250.1800.7355.210 ...will update you guys if the issues still exist...

What I realized over time is the crashes are a little random.. Nothing to do with the download speed... I managed to download harvest, fighter and pro evolution ... All over WiFi within a short time... But yes there were crashes... Restarting resumed the process...

I am from India ... But I hate.the Indian reps :'(
They don't know the difference between Venue pro n venue... The worst part is I am charged international calling rates :(

    We have already given them half of this year. Apparently they are strong believers in the practice 'if they give you an inch, take a mile'. Can someone name another phone that has had this big of a problem fixing this big of an issue?
    Samaung Vibrant/Epic/Captivate/Fascinate - GPS doesnt lock on the phones.
    Iphone 4 - Reception issues
    LG G2X - Random force closes and reboot issues.

    Your not the only person whos ever got a buggy phone Missionsparta. You could be like those Samsung owners and never get a fix or the LG G2X owners with no ETA. Get off the cross and wait. Dell is fixing the issue this week.

    I can't help but throw my hands up at the whole update situation on Windows Phone 7. I honestly feel this firmware release is delayed by Microsoft and not Dell...

    I mean seriously why would Dell be shipping a firmware with the major build number tied to the Feb. NoDo build (7355) on their new and refurbished phones now, but now releasing it to us? The only reason I can think of is that Microsoft is required to push our firmware update via Zune and they have been stalling.

    That leaves us and Dell in a tight spot. Dell can't release timely updates to fix our major issues... Even worse they can't communicate because the truth just is that they have no idea when it will be released.

    Centralized updates for the OS makes perfect sense, but I don't see why the OEM shouldn't be able to push out their own firmware updates via their own tools... Or why Microsoft just doesn't push an OEM firmware update instantly...

    Other OEMs have been able to release firmware updates through Zune though. Not to mention that Dell is the only OEM having these major stability issues. Could be any number of reasons why Dell hasn't released it to existing owners - still working on update process, adding more features/fixes before releasing etc.
