samsung-galaxy-s4_zpsf77a4e70.jpg

Hey guys,
This is the initial release of a work in progress. The is a port from the i9505 build of Google Play Edition Kit Kat 4.4.2 (ML4 Base from T-Mobile for RLS1-4 and RLS5+ is VZW based). The newest builds are GPE 4.4.3 and are VZW based due to compatibility and modded for Sprint. The original dev is Danvdh (dev for tmo/verizon version and where this port came from) and his post can be here :http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2539361 and his VZW build can be found here, http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2643031. I borrowed some build.prop edits from B-dubz25 (dev for GPE 4.2.2 for jfltespr) and his post can be found here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2345386.

Note: It will fail the *22899 call, let it continue. Wait a minute or two on the mobile activation data screen (or once you see 1X, 3G, LTE) you can exit out of it.
If you have signal, but no data...go into the "Access Point Names" settings in More Settings and click the LTE APN. If that doesn't work, toggle airplane mode. If that doesn't work, reboot.
If your 3G/4G Data drops, toggle airplane mode on&off to reconnect

As of right now, only TWRP is supported. Please use the latest TWRP to flash. Do a factory reset, wipe system, and wipe cache/dalvik cache again to be safe!

Yeah, i've been tired of TW. Lol.

Any feedback so far guys? Does it boot for all of you?

Edit: Update for the night. Edited framework.jar, framework2.jar, globalconfig.jar, and framework-res.apk and I saw sprint for a second and then I lost service and lost my APNs. Went through again and changed out apn xmls and several ril files but no service at all. =( Restoring my nandroid and will try again tomorrow.

telephony-common.jar is what you need mate, you may need to merge somethings in from CM, the guys on the HTC managed to get LTE working

good work!

Thank you for the tip. :D Will look into it. Edited eri.xml to try to make it say sprint before I head to bed. Also went ahead and merged the dark ui and battery % in to bypass addons and editing framework-res multiple times.

Edit: Putting up RLS2. Will update changelog and post link. Addons have been built into rom and are now depreciated.
Edit2: RLS2 Download is up! See second post for changelog or click http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407581993 to download. :)

Hey @droiddawg,

Congrats on taking on this new project. Just an idea for a tiny fix. It's always bugged me that the incallui displays the text 'DIALLING' with 2 'L's rather than 1. Just grasping at straws here, but could the fix be as simple as unpacking the telephony apk and editing the text? I'd love to take a crack at it if anyone could help point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

Edit: NVM... After a quick googling, I'm beginning to think it's probably due to my language settings being UK English. Apparently DIALLING is also a correct spelling. My ocd is satisfied

I just tried mine and it is spelt dialing. Lol. I think it's actually in the language settings apk. I'll take a look at it once I crack LTE and MMS. :)

You should be able to get LTE by adding all the correct APNs. I have flashed his ROM before straight with nod modifications. I remember I had used an app that copied your APNS and then I imported them. The only problem I had was that I would lose LTE about once a day and would have to click on the right APN again.

    RLS 5.5

Okay guys, testers gave me the go ahead. ;) Updated OP. Dirty flash if you must, but I would clean install this. More to come in a few days. This one should boot for you all, it just may take a little bit to boot. :)

Note: It will fail the *22899 call, let it continue. Wait a minute or two on the mobile activation data screen (or once you see 1X or 3G) you can exit out of it.

I heard 4.4.3 fixes LTE dropping. Don't remember if.that was happening on this port.

Edit: didn't see your post right before mine. Lol

Looks like dan is grabbing testers for his VZW build. I did download the GSM build though. :silly: Gonna give it a crack and see if I can bust it out onto Sprint. I mean, I ported originally from his GSM build.

No promises on a release though, definitely going to be a couple test builds before I do a public release because I want to do this right!

Side note: One more day until the weekend and I can show this beast some more attention. :)

Edit1: Zipping up a test build for myself which will be far from actually release quality and will throw up more edits tonight as I work on it.

Here's what I've done so far:
-Swapped out eri.xml which will hopefully display Sprint as carrier
-Swapped apn file to Sprint only APNs (universal APN file was an issue on my phone on 4.4.2)
    -Several Sprint build.prop edits
-Poured myself a Jack & Coke

First test build is very simple and I will add more and more stuff to it if I get it working tonight.

One thing I am definitely going to test is booting stock kernel vs booting other kernels. I have a 4.4.2 kernel that I am fond of and I'm praying it boots with no issues. ;)

Edit2: It booted and I see LTE! Going through setup now. Will post an updated edit in a few minutes. :)

Edit3: Data works and carrier label shows Sprint. Going to play with build.prop later once my apps download since data usage window doesn't work which was an ongoing issue with my 4.4.2 builds. Side note: LTE hasn't dropped once yet since it has booted.

I should have something up today. Currently updating some APKs for those who wish to fresh install. Once I extract the APKs and compile a test build I will post up the results.

I did find some more goodies for the data graph in systemui.apk and that was an apk that I edited....so hopefully that'll work now.

Progess edits (will start a new post when I put up RLS6 for public use):
Edit: Built. Will dirty flash and then backup and clean flash to check for stability. Once I see all is good, I will post the link.
Edit2: So data usage window reports higher than what it did but still don't see any sliders. Swapping out unedited settings.apk from the VZW build for another build. Building and reflashing to see if that helps.
Edit3: No go. Backing up again and wiping all to see if there is any change.
Edit4: Even a full wipe doesn't yield a correct data graph. :( However, the data amount is higher than I've seen: mine was stuck at 336mb and now it is at 2.5gb which is close to what the 3rd party "My Data Graph" shows. I feel I'm getting closer on this.
Edit5: Deodexed rom but don't think data graph will be corrected today
Edit6: Unfortunately that didn't help. I have to go to a friend's house for dinner at 7 so I must stop for the evening. No build up tonight. :(
