Does the correct way to add a hack look like this?

# example name
Example.hack=value

I'm confused about needing a name or a space after #. Thanks

I'm not entirely convinced that any of these work. I'm not saying I'm right but I can't really tell a difference and I've read a few articles debunking build.prop tweaks. It makes me wonder if there is a placebo affect on some of these.

I agree with Doc here. I only change my ril and wifi_supplicant values when I flash a new rom (see below). In fact I have a mock build.prop that all I have to do is open in Root Explorer and copy them (5 lines total) and then open /system/build.prop and find where they go, paste and remove the originals.

I have been doing build.prop edits for quite a long time. They work great on some lower-end devices, however since ICS and the explosion of AOSP/Twiz/Sense (Blur is gone) and the optimization of databases and apps, there is really no need for most of these anymore. Rom Control (and all its derivatives) has most of these incorporated as tweaks, aside from the obscure ones out there.

I would like to caution though. These build.prop edits from the OP are for Motorola and HTC devices:

Those are the same type of edits I have made on my galaxy s3. I can see how those would work. I'm going to keep testing them. Thank you for the input.

Even so, your ROM would still run general "common" build.prop settings. Be wary though, some that supposed to not work, would either do nothing or send you bootloops/FC's. SO MAKE a NAND backup if you try these TMo build.props

  1. i have sarched by every word. but i dont find thes editable codes. i think that it isnt in my file to edit. will i add thes codes?
  2. why didnt the developers add thes useful codes given in the thred?
  3. what is google dns?
  4. i have parsed all items by lining as they in this thred. any wrong will be?
  5. what is 'Dalvik VM' ?

    i will keep updating as i play arround with diferent values. if you have any other tweaks you want to add let me know and i will add to the list.
    add or edit existing lines to build.prop with text editor. you can do it with rootexplorer or copy it to the sd card and open on your computer using notepad++ or any other text editor and then push it back using abd or root explorer. these should help with performance and battery life.
    *MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST*
    Note: if you dont know what you are doing please dont try. read first and make sure you understand what you are doing and make a backup before doing any mods. i am not responsible for messing up your device but the s3 community and i may assist.

    Please explain what each of these mods do to the system. If you dont know what they do then how will you know whether they work on the S3 and exactly how they will affect the system.

    If you dont know exactly what each mod does then please do not use other people as testers until you know how they work and if they are safe.

    it gives you a better benchmark score. i had snapshots but my phone is hard bricked so i cant post them. but i did get to pull the buildprop before it bricked. it gives the phone better performance and makes it run smoother. theres also some tweaks that are supposed to increase data speeds but i was still testing those. then there are some tweaks that save battery and a few that give you better picture and video quality.

    He has not done anything wrong by sharing that.
    Ask him for the result of any of the mods rather than giving your crap conclusions and advices.

    Few years back, only these types of sharing led to formation of THE XDA!
