Bought the Z1 two months ago and there aren't enought improvements to upgrade to the Z2. Also I don't mind the viewing angles of the Display, and the software uprades will mostly be ported at the Z1.

The Z2 is a good choice for those who are coming from other brands.

I think it's not worth to sell our Z1 and get the Z2 (well if you want to always have the latest phone, go) as spec wise there is little improvement on the hardware. Lets wait for Z3 and see what it will offer.

Currently happy with my Z1, just the camera brings disappointment. Peace

I agree. For Z1 owners definitely not but for someone like me who never owned a Sony device and was super disappointed in the S5? Absolutely. I love the Z2, I really hope Sony brings it to the States asap.

a Definite NO for me, the hardware updates on the Z2 is too marginal, you wont even feel the hardware difference between the 2. not even the upgraded 3gb ram will make much difference... I open 3-4 apps at the same time and the Z1 doesn't even blink...

on top of that, I think Z1 looks better than Z2...

I wait for the Z3, since Sony said Z1 will remain a flagship through 2014, I'm sure we will get almost all the features of the Z2 with kitkat

Am I the only one here barely having had enough cash to get the Xperia Z1 in the first place?
I'm hoping the build quality of my beloved Z1 will make it last a couple of years :)

(I'm not even jealous about the Z2. Sure, it's a great device better than the Z1, but it's also much more expensive for just a couple of improvements)

The Z1 is still a very high end handset and certainly at the upper echelons for gaming, To me the Z2 is the equivalent of the 4S / 5S which is minor update spec wise

I wish they introduced a 32Gb model worldwide instead of it being exclusive to one market this time too.

I am happy with my Z1, I would have preferred to have one with 32Gb onboard though

can't chose any of the options.

I am not sticking with the Z1 and there is no way I would purchase the Z2!

Living in Sweden then I've to say that selling it will be a pretty good deal since the price difference will only be 100$ and and that is with that new wristband which costs a 100$ so it's a pretty good deal for me. Prices tend to sit around on one spot a lot in Sweden before they go down so I will have time to sell it on a good deal and still just pay 30-50$ extra(-100$ for the wristband). Sell of my still new Z1 and I pay for the wristband that I was going to buy anyways, perfect deal!

Just got my Z1 (an upgrade from Z) just 2 weeks ago... And Z2 spec doesn't make me want to upgrade like from Z to Z1....

I can't believe people when they say the Z2 isn't an upgrade over the Z1.... Who are they really fooling ? Its is a great upgrade!! IPS screen, dual stereo speaker a bigger battery, 3 gigs of ram, updated 801 processor, better front facing camera.... Are you still sure it isn't an upgrade?

I don't think anyone said that it is not an upgrade... what everyone is saying is that it is not a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over the Z1...

The upgrade isn't good enough for Z1 users.

But yes, it is the best phone IMO. They perfected all the flaws of the Z1 and added some nice software features.

Display, speakers. I just hope the camera software is better with the 4.4 update.

I'll think about it tbh. I've broken the back glass though so I'll get that repaired first. Then... Maybe... I doubt it.

I love what Sony has done with the Z2, I definitely will be getting it. It seems that everything they did wrong with the Z1 has been rectified with the Z2 (especially screen and speakers). What's a bit bothersome is the 6 month cycle Sony seems to be on but that being said I'm a sucker for new shiny objects and the Z2 seems to be the best things on the horizon for some time to come (unless the 2nd version of the HTC One blows me away).

I agree with your point, Sony should have annual flagship releases like they have with their other products

But releasing a flagship every 6 months also means that Sony ALWAYS has a top spec device to compete with all other releases on a particular year, maybe that's why they like it

I like regular releases as I work in tech, and get to review them - so it keeps me busy. But I also review things with the consumer in mind, and I do wonder if Sony loses as many sales as it gains - simply because, like it or not, many people don't like spending loads of money on something only to find it is superseded a few months later.

Sure, we all know that there's always something new around the corner. Sure, we know the device will still do everything it originally did before you knew there was a new phone (or laptop, or TV). But, that doesn't change the fact that some people will just prefer to go to Apple, Samsung, HTC etc and have something that is still the top model for as long as possible.

Clearly Sony thinks it's a good strategy and if time proves it with Sony gaining loads of market share because the some people who get upset are less than the some that don't care one bit then I'll shut up, but I do think Apple and Samsung has the right idea.

Still, as long as Sony is releasing a new flagship every six months then I think I'll probably end up getting it - even though common sense tells me to wait for the 'big' update in the autumn, which will have all of the Z2 features, a new SoC, new camera and much more.

Hell no. I don't see any major upgrades that could justified the change.
