New ROM :: 407 OFFICIAL GB ROM IS OUT

Search This thread
Great...looks like this is going to be a complete waste of time compared to DSC. The wifi issue was the only thing I was really hoping to see fixed.

Reflashed 354 stock, verified that baseband showed as 354, then flashed 350 recovery, then finally this 407 pkg. Baseband still shows as 406...just FYI to everyone.

You can make a nandroid backup to be sure with streakmod recovery,
you have to put the file (previously nammed update.pkg) on your SD card,
You have to change your recovery to 350, and reboot on recovery to restaure the update.pkg.
You have to wait.... a litlle bit....

and that's all ^_^

Mine is an unlocked Canadian and it rocks ;)
just when you have to click on the droid, click on the bottom right button to change the language to english ;)
Ah well, i have a Note now, so i think i can be a bit more daring with the Streak . .
Maybe next i'll try Streakdroid . . And i will absolutely try, when DJ Steve makes good on his word to try and get ICS on the Streak5 . .

Edit:
And nope, Update does not work. Errors out and reboots into normal 2.2.2

Ah, must have overread that.
Do i need recovery.img or the PKG?
Will it work on last official 2.2.2?
Will i lose any data?

You need both, the 350 recovery & the pkg file.

you will need to place the pkg file on your sd card, and rename it to update.pkg

flash 350 recovery

reboot into recovery mode, and choose the 2d option.

You will lose everything. It automatically factory resets your device.

just flashed this. Nothing majorly different. DJ Steve's GB Rom is better, imho.

I was hoping this update would allow me to connect to my corporate email, but I still get the message this phone does not have features compliant with my administrator, or something to that effect.

I thought christmas come early and I'd get to use my favorite phone again. /sigh...

back to my motorola atrix. :(

Sticking with 2.2.2

Think I'll pass...I'm about 2 weeks from getting a Galaxy Note.
I don't want to hassle with wiping everything, reinstalling, setting it back up.
Maybe AFTER I get a Note, I'll play around with it, but my 2.2.2 serves me well, EVERYTHING works perfectly, run it days on end without locking/rebooting.
I'm not going to mess with it.
But, it's nice that you guys like to tinker like I did years ago...LOL, I'm just too tired at the end of the day to mess with it.

After installing this, fastboot flash streakmod, then go directly in streakmod and flash superuser.zip. You will now be rooted. Also, since this is a stock rom, when it boots it will overwrite streakmod with stock recovery. In /system folder there is a file named something along the lines of install-recovery-from-boot.p or similar. Delete this and it won't overwrite.

I heave another question:

What can i do so i can heave RW access in system folder in a stock rom?

That is what you do to have RW access on the system folder. That's what rooting does.

Well, I've been running this for a couple hours now. Battery life seems acceptable and I haven't had a wifi freeze....yet. I probably just jinxed it though.

Wifi seems to be pretty good. One hang and end call button is working better. I might of jumped the gun with my earlier comment.

    Hello, I'm NeCoritol

Moments ago, Dell streak 5's OFFICIAL GB ROM was OUT
    (Sorry, my English)

    Region :: Korea, Republic of

    Carrier :: Olleh (KT)

    DOWNLOAD :

    http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_407_20707_14.pkg
    12
    Rom:
    Version: 407
    Build: 20707
    Android version: 2.3.3
    Build date: Dec 1, 2011

    Changelog:
    • First official 2.3.3 pkg
    • Dell Stage 1.5
    • Swype 2.27.69.19339
    • BB version is named GAUSB1A1406214-xx instead of GAUSB1A140714-xx

It's exactly as simple as it sounds, it is only a marginal update from 406, but it's an official PKG. Recommended to flash the pkg for the proper basebands as per the general recommendation. (ie. 360 for any froyo custom rom users and this one for any gingerbread custom rom users) Manually flashing the amss and dsp1 is NOT recommended if it can be avoided, now that it is out it CAN be avoided.

    Guides:
(Read this to learn how to flash recoveries with fastboot)

    Install instructions:
    1. Recommended: make a backup of userdata with preferred method
    2. Flash a region 14 recovery: stock 407 recovery.img
    3. download 407 update.pkg
    4. copy update.pkg to sdcard
    5. reboot into recovery mode
    6. follow onscreen instructions
    7. finished
    8. optional: reinstall streakmod
    9. optional: root with superuser.zip

    Stock Deodexed + slimmed varient:
407 is available as a zipaligned, deodexed, and slimmed down version:
It has had all it's bundleware and enginneringmode apps removed.

    Mod compability:
    • From 406 compatable roms:
      • Portrait mod
      • Theme mods

All previous GB based roms are 406 compatable, so any mods that were designed for 406 should work on 407

Dude, don't wait any longer to move to a custom ROM. I did the same thing you did, going to 407 first. There are so many issues with it, I wish I'd made the jump to DSC ROM sooner. Everything works now, and is so much smoother than 407 was. I'm very pleased with DSC as it stands now. It's convinced me to hang onto the Streak for a little longer, maybe see what the next Nexus device is like.

I got that when I had the wrong recovery flashed. If you are running a stock rom and flash the correct recovery, DO NOT let your phone boot after flashing the recovery. If you do, the stock recovery for your rom will be reinstalled upon boot. Flash the necessary recovery and do not reboot. Pull the battery, and immediately power up into recovery (both volume buttons). Update again and see if the problem remains.

Once i install this. Can i then install Streaknod? Or will phone no longer be rooted?
After installing this, fastboot flash streakmod, then go directly in streakmod and flash superuser.zip. You will now be rooted. Also, since this is a stock rom, when it boots it will overwrite streakmod with stock recovery. In /system folder there is a file named something along the lines of install-recovery-from-boot.p or similar. Delete this and it won't overwrite.
