How do you like that fire? I already have a Gal Tab 10.1 and a HTC Flyer but I was tempted to pick up a Kindle Fire. What do you think of it?

I know this was an older post but I wanted to comment on it. I have a Fire running CM7 and it's great considering it was only $200. Sure, it lacks an external SD slot, camera, and microphone (though it WILL work with a wired headset), it has a dual core processor and what I consider to be a very nice screen for that price range. I had a G Tab and hated the screen. This one is very useable.

Scott,

What are your thoughts on modding the camera for us like they are doing on the Sensation?

This looks interesting but my only concern would be what is does to stability. For example back in the Evo days everyone wanted to camera from the latest leak and it had a bug that cause your phone to reboot in low lighting taking pics. kinda sucks to learn that while on vacation. lol. I think the camera works great the way it is but would certainly welcome improvements so long as it doesn't cause other things to break.

Just to let you know Scott, I'm very glad you have not yet removed the HTC account linking stuff. That's actually the only reason I'm running Sense now and not your discontinued Senseless ROM. I'm so annoyed that Google and FB can't work out their little spat because I'm the one that pays now that my contacts won't aggregate their info automagically for me... Unless I get a 3rd party app, which I don't want to do. This is one of the things I do love about Sense, even though I will forever be an AOSP fanboy. Of course, when AOSP becomes available and stable (bug free) I'll just have to get one of those 3rd party apps but not until then.

Totally agree, I like Sense and one of the coolest things about it is how it keeps the contact list clean by linking your phone, email, and FB contacts so you don't have 3 or more listings of people, each listing only having a bit of information about that contact. The linking is awesome, of course I also love how the calendar aggregates everyones birthdays, and any other occasions you have listed for each person. The Sense calendar has saved me a few times already.

I have problems with 3G on 4.1
Mobile data switch often becomes faded and unresponsive until I toggle on/off Airplane mode.

Ahh, you are using the wrong detergent. I like Tide, it cleans well and doesn't cause fade.

Just installed the a couple hours ago and after restoring data with MyBackupPro I lost the new power options menu. It reverted to the power options menu from Cleanrom 3.7 before the new RUU upgrade. I also tried to reinstall cleanrom 4.1 without wipe but it just reverted all my themed stuff, not the power options... Anyone know how I can just get the new power options menu back? Also the stock pulldown menu rather the transparent?
Maybe zips that I could just flash?

So you did a bunch of things that are not supported, which means troubleshooting this is going to be tough. I would probably just start over and not restore data, restore apps w/data only.

Thanks, at least we can commiserate. Do you have a link to the Screen Off app you use? Most of them are widgets and so can't be placed in the main dock.

I think it may also overwrite the extended power menu stuff (reboot to recovery, etc.)

Edit: and I feel your pain - I was trying to eliminate power button usage myself, which is why I ended up spending so much time troubleshooting this reboot. I did find an app in the Market called Screen Off that just blanks the screen and allows it to lock on its own - it does not need to be set up as a device administrator so it does not cause a reboot. It obviously doesn't address the wake-on-volume issue though.

Andy will you be posting a wake-on-vol mod for CM 4.1? I tried doing it myself but what I ended up with after using baksmali didn't line up with the tutorials I found on the web (the smali files I ended up with after running the classes.dex file through baksmali)
Scott,
Any way to get the changes these Screen Off apps make to Device Administrator to behave with the jar in CleanROM? Maybe we can come up with a reward, as motivation!

Just wondering if anyone is having this same issue. When in Car Dock mode there is some messed up text on the Call screen:

I'm on 4.0, maybe it's fixed on 4.1?

Just flashed 4.1, problem is still there.

What did I do that was not supported? lol
The themes/mods that I installed were at the bottom of the OP posted by scrosler...I did nothing out of the norm as far as restoring my apps and data using an app that I prefer over Titanium.. the install of the new RUU and the new CleanRom went rather smoothly, just lost my phone options when I hold down the power button to reboot or power down, thats all

It's most likely cause of the tweaks and not the apps you restored. It's a known thing if you reflash and don't use the tweaks app you'll have it again.
Oh and you'll have to wipe before reflashing.

i started this reply by writing how you should search before posting and that your questions have been asked and answered like fifty times already, but then realized that it would just be easier for me to answer them.

the lockscreen shortcuts are whatever the 4 apps are on your homescreen dock

Bluetooth works fine. if yours isnt working you may have frozen some app with titanium backup or its possible you you need to do a complete wipe and reinstall of the ROM.

I agree the bluetooth seems to work fine, at least when streaming music. I just thought it was odd that when in a call I'm not able to switch the call audio to bluetooth mode, not even an icon for it. I have yet to freeze anything with TB since I flashed this ROM. Wanted to get it all running fine first before doing that.

Shoulda just done a search on the lockscreen shorts, that's my bad. I usually like formulating my own questions. Even though it takes a little longer than searching, I like getting all my details out there in case there's something different in the situation than a previously found solution. But yeah the lockscreen answers were too easy to find and I should've just searched.

But thanks for the reply and for not flaming me too bad for not searching.

    Alternate Kernels

I have created a flashable 3.13.607.5 Kernel and a flashable 3.14.605.5 Kernel for the ROM.

Some people feel that the 3.13.607.5 kernel gave better battery and cooling than the latest kernel.

Feel free to download and test for yourself!

These are in old school method as to make one simple step for everyone. This also resets mainver to 1.00.000.0 :D

    Instructions
    1. Download to root of SD Card
    2. Reboot to Recovery
    3. Flash Zip
    4. Phone will reboot to hboot
    5. Press power one time so it will scan the SD Card
    6. Install boot.img when prompted
    7. Reboot when prompted

    Download the 3.13.605.7 kernel HERE

    Download the 3.14.605.5 kernel HERE

Np. Not trying to bite your head off or anything, but wipe is always almost recommended.

You get to go off on someone and get a thanks for that.

700+ downloads in 7 hours and I have 12 thanks. Im not complaining... But really?
