if you have a market anywhere else delete it

I deleted both the Vending.apk (named com.android.vending_2.2.7.apk on this ROM) and the data/app/ Com.android.vending-1 then just flashed it in cwm.

PS: I have no themes installed other than blue messaging app mod and custom boot animation. And as I stated above I am on the Bonsai 1.1.2 ROM, ext4

Do you mean flash over what I have now, ignoring system/app but deleting any com.vending from data/app?

yes. the system one will be over written. the data\app i would uninstall. wipe your cache. the dalvik will be wiped by the script in the flash

Not sure if it would work but would freezing my updater help at all? Not sure what else would be causing a constant FC if I'm not actually in the app..

I will play with it more, but on initial testing I do not have a market app shortcut to launch it. Using a file manager I see the vending.apk is there.

I probably installed wrong. I did what I did with the file I sent you, which was to delete the other vending.apk files then flashed.

look in your app drawer. is it there?

if your app was Vending.apk in system\apps you didnt need to delete it

Nope the file was in the correct system folder. But not showing up in app drawer.

removed the file and put the other vending.apk in its place and it shows up and loads fine.

you put your old vending.apk in the zip and it flashed fine? i think when we modified the android manifest it may have made it more diff to flash. you start the inversion process in the manifest so its hard to get around

No I had the vending.apk from the zip I attached to my previous post backed up and just moved it to the appropriate folder and it that vending.apk version showed in the app drawer again. I am not sure what you are talking about with mainfest and inversion, sorry. lol. The one you attached back to me in your post I am assuming was modified by you to include the dark blue/black market. That will not show up in the app drawer. I am going to try to flash again without deleting any market.apk files and see what happens.

the app has an xml that lists permissions and themes. Thats the manifest.Yes flash the zip in recovery without deleting your old one. do that and let me know how it goes

Nope, no luck that way either. weird. The vending.apk shows up under /system/app, but no app in drawer.

I do notice that there is no file under /data/data or /data/app after flashing. Do I need any there?

no. damn well i would keep trying. when i put viva cyan together the market flashed with my theme fine. i have never had an issue

No go. Had nothing in data/app, froze updater, booted CWM, wiped cache, flashed, rebooted, and still FCing. Even tried wiping data+cache in the Market and unfreezing updater. Nada..

I'm not sure what the script is exactly designed to do other than replace Vending.apk- any chance that zip would work if I flashed it after restoring to my old Market version? Or flashing it over a new stock Market?

every flash has a script telling it what to do. this just added wiping cache. what was your old version? i would try anything at this point lol
