Version 1.1 Now Available!

Version 1.1 Now Available!

Changes in this version
  • Added twitter to the kill list (Didn't see it the first time)
  • Moved ADB to root of folder for easier use by those without the SDK

If you had problems with "Command not found" then this should resolve that.

Also updated prerequisites to include the installation of HTC Sync drivers.

If you have any kill list suggestion then by all means post 'em up!

Have fun and keep it Clean!

Move files from tools folder to cleantool folder and it will work, that worked for me

Edit: didn't see the update.

Maybe because it's a Google app. Never tried but since it's tied to your gmail account login, that might be bringing it back. Try unchecking the sync in your accounts then disabling the app.

Nah... I dont think that is it...

Nope. Oh well. It does apear to run through the whole script, but nothing happens

Do you have sync drivers installed? Are you in Charge Only mode? Is HTC sync running? If it is kill it! That will cause ADB to fail.

Anyways... Reboot phone again... Try again. Post screenshot of window if it fails and I will try to figure it out for you.

Do I need to do a factory reset first or can I just install this without issues?

No... Just run script on a fresh boot. Make sure you have HTC Drivers installed.

Awesome. Finally have most of the bloat gone. I'm going to try and remember the com names of the other bloatware so I can disable the rest. 250mb free memory isn't enough!

Thats easy... I can compile a list of every single com in the ROM (I made a rhyme!). I just had this phone in hand for less than 12 hours and I am coming from Sprint so I dont know what files are safe to kill and what files are needed for whatever purposes.

Awesome script! I was able to run it and got rid of bloat. Will this also give us temp root access to run Titanium Backup, etc? Rootcheck app shows no root access, can't install Busybox either

News: com.htc.googlereader
News Widget: com.htc.googlereaderwidget

I'm a little slow when it comes to ADB and what not so bare with me. This is the error I am getting below.

I see the ADB server is out of date multiple times and then it appears to go thru...but then I see an issue pushing busybox? Please help Scott! :confused:

    Welcome to CleanTOOL! This is a quick little script I whipped up to clean up all the bloat on the Rezound. The script uses temp root to disable most bloat. Bloat will NOT come back on a reboot! They are gone until hard reset you enable them again.

    Adobe Reader, lock Buster, NFL, Golf, Kindle, Slacker, HTC Set Up, Polaris Office, App Sharing, FaceBook, Flicker, NFS, MY Verizon, VCast Music, VCast Video, Video Surf, VZ Nav, Back Up Assistance, Scan, Twitter, Footprints, FriendStream, Mobile Instant Messenger, Tasks, Usage Monitor, Watch, Printer.

    New in this version
    Fixed: Gallery blank screen issue when using the Disable Sense script

    Instructions:
    • Install HTC USB Sync Drivers if not already installed
    • Download package from download link and extract to your desktop
    • Enable USB Debugging on Phone
    • Connect Device to PC in Charge Only Mode
    • Run "CleanTOOL 2.1.1"
    • Enjoy bloat free goodness!

    How to mod the script to your satisfaction...

    Not everyone considers the same thing Bloat... I consider everything I listed above as bloat. If you want to modify the script to not remove some of the apps then here is what you do...

    Instead of running the CleanTOOL Batch file... Open it in notepad and find this section at about the 1/2 way to 2/3s point...

    @echo Temp Rooted! Now about to clean it up!
    @pause
    @Echo OFF
    @adb shell pm disable com.adobe.reader
    @adb shell pm disable com.blockbuster.app.htc
    @adb shell pm disable com.mobitv.client.nfl2010
    @adb shell pm disable com.gameloft.android.Verizon.GloftLGolf2.lgolf2
    @adb shell pm disable com.amazon.kindle
    @adb shell pm disable com.slacker.radio
    @adb shell pm disable com.htc.android.htcsetupwizard
    @adb shell pm disable com.infraware.docmaster
    @adb shell pm disable com.htc.appsharing
    @adb shell pm disable com.facebook.katana
    @adb shell pm disable com.htc.socialnetwork.flickr
    @adb shell pm disable com.ea.nfshp
    @adb shell pm disable com.vzw.hss.myverizon
    @adb shell pm disable com.pv.android.verizon.mod
    @adb shell pm disable com.pv.android.verizon.avod
    @adb shell pm disable com.videosurf.activity
    @adb shell pm disable com.vznavigator.ADR6425LVW
    @adb shell pm disable com.htc.VzWBackupAssistantClient
    @adb shell pm disable com.mtag.scan
    echo Cleaned!
    echo Visit www.scottsroms.com for all your Android ROM Needs!
    Pause
    This is where all the disabling is done. Simply delete any line that you want to keep on the phone. Save file and then run it. Below is the actual app name to make it easy.

    Legend
    Adobe Reader: com.adobe.reader
    Block Buster: com.blockbuster.app.htc
    NFL: com.mobitv.client.nfl2010
    Golf: com.gameloft.android.Verizon.GloftLGolf2.lgolf2
    Kindle: com.amazon.kindle
    Slacker: com.slacker.radio
    HTC Set Up: com.htc.android.htcsetupwizard
    Polaris Office: com.infraware.docmaster
    App Sharing: com.htc.appsharing
    FaceBook: com.facebook.katana
    Flicker: com.htc.socialnetwork.flickr
    NFS: com.ea.nfshp
    MY Verizon: com.vzw.hss.myverizon
    VCast Music: com.pv.android.verizon.mod
    VCast Video: com.pv.android.verizon.avod
    Video Surf: com.videosurf.activity
    VZ Nav: com.vznavigator.ADR6425LVW
    Back Up Assistance: com.htc.VzWBackupAssistantClient
    Scan: com.mtag.scan

    Additional bloat that I will have removed in next version:

    Footprints: com.htc.android.footprints
    Footprints Widget: com.htc.footprints.widget3d

    Mobile IM: com.htc.mim

    News: com.htc.googlereader
    News Widget: com.htc.googlereaderwidget

    Friendstream: com.htc.friendstream
    Friendstream lockscreen: com.htc.idlescreen.socialnetwork

    Conversely, if you want to enable something that you prior disabled simple send the enable command instead of the disable command like this:

    @adb shell pm enable com.facebook.katana
    Sending that line will enable Facebook. The same method for any thing else.

    Here is a list of ALL the apps in the ROM. It was converted from PNG format (by me) to a text file (by MrSmith317) for very easy copy and paste!

    Post with a CSV file is HERE. Thank it too, that was a hella lot of typing!

    I also converted the CSV to text with the commands embedded. USE WITH CAUTION! You disable something you dont intended to you may have to hard reset!

    Thread has over 10K views in just a few days... Thats the most of any thread that actually adds immediate VALUE to your phone. The rest are S-oFF rants that add no value at all.
    Version 1.1 was downloaded over 400 times in 48 hours
    OP was thanked 42 times :confused:

    Numbers are not adding up here :(

    I know a lot of you are new here but keep this in mind please...

    We devs dont post our work for anyone but you guys. I had this working on my device and thats the only device I use. I didint have to share this. Coulda let yall suffer in VZW bloat hell but I am not that type of guy :eek: Occasionally we get donations but hitting thanks on the OP should be a no questions asked procedures when you find something usefull.

    Oh and to the nice person who donated today.... Thanks a lot! That was very nice of you! You are now starting the fund for my next device! What will it be??? lol (I fund all my devices on donations :p)

    Show some love... Hit the Thanks button!
