Can anyone mirror the latest version? As you may (or may not) have seen in another thread, I partitioned my sd card and lost most of my files and with Joker's site down for the time being, I can't start over with cm9.

Have you tried Jelly Bean? The first release of Jelly Bean that joker released ran better for me than ICS ever did, and it has only gotten better.

I've been having a few issues with CM10, battery life, running hot, car dock not functioning, search being a bit slow to load up. It's what I'm using right now and if I can't get a clean version of Joker's CM9, I'll probably just stick to it. Odds are the next revision will help cure some ills.

I believe I have the latest CM9 saved on my hard drive. How would I get it to you? Dropbox perhaps? It would take ages to upload (my DSL connection really sucks) but I'd be willing to do that. How big a hurry are you in?

CM10 is good stuff, supposedly Th3Bill got the stuttering fixed. That was a bit annoying. But the latest version doesn't have root. Or it does and root is borked. Anyway, Titanium, Superuser, AdAway, and other apps can't take advantage. A couple people have gotten around it by dirty flashing it on top of the last version, but I only have the latest, so I'm just waiting on the next version. But I prefer CM9 as well, the battery life is better.

I am actually running CannonROM 1.2 myself. It's CM9 with black-themed apps, includes Gapps (should be a no-no but nobody's said anything) and Launcher 7. You don't have to use Launcher 7. I don't. The only difference I see is that my Gapps are black. If you were to flash regular ICS Gapps over it, you might lose the black (I don't see why you wouldn't).

I am not sure Joker is coming back. That's the feeling in the CM10 thread. Apparently Joker had some real-life issues, and that always takes precedence over volunteer coding. Th3Bill has taken over CM10 and has built it from source (as opposed to porting -- don't ask me the difference, I don't rightly know) so he's the man over there now. With 6 ROMs on three phones, he's basically managing 18 ROMs, all JB I think. Doubt he'd add CM9. And CM9 is probably as good as it's going to get. Meanwhile there are exciting developments every week in CM10, it's like how CM9 was six months ago.

//edit again: Took down the Dropbox link, na7q has a better mirror here. If anyone feels they really need my Dropbox link, PM me and I will give you the link.

Mirrors are posted on my site for most things that joker was hosting. ROMs, recoveries, MotoSunfire.com

I know the Devs have moved on the CM10 but I like CM9. Just wondering if there ever is a driver leak could the Devs fix Cm9 also ?

It is a myth that CM10 is 100% better in every way than CM9. CM10 is definitely better, but...

CM9 generally gets better battery life.

And JB gets the stutters when scrolling. This is MOSTLY worked out, but still comes up. I consider this a non-issue at this point... so it's really just the battery life.

Joker's MIA, so CM9 itself is unlikely to be updated. When CM10 was first coming out, the word coming down was that CM9 would continue to see development. So there is something to be hopeful for if you really don't want JB. In the meantime, check out CanonROM 1.2... it hasn't been updated in a few weeks, but I've ran it, it's solid... it does include Google Now, and that works, although sometimes it doesn't (it's the ICS hack) but generally it's good. Only I wasn't getting any better battery out of it, so I just came back to JB.

It's been a while now. Has anyone heard of a way to defeat this Trojan boot loader problem yet?

I tried cm10 a couple apps I use regularly were buggy and the jitters drive me crazy. It is better with the newer builds. But my apps are still crash or hang irregularly. The same apps with cm9 are flawless.

I was thinking of going back to CM9 for the same reason, but since Joker pulled the plug on his site, I can't find his last build. Anyone have a copy of it floating around?

Edit: Nevermind, found a copy here http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/files/download/115-cm9-by-jokersax/

This is something of a shot in the dark, but does anyone have a copy of 0.6.1 or around there floating around? Reason being, I always loved the amazing Reloaded ICS patch but I remember all the CM builds after it were incompatible, and going through this thread I think 0.6.1 was released the same day as the last patch, May 7 2012.

Okay due to the recent changes in cm9 install process I am writing a short guide from my phone. A longer version is planned and will be posted on my site.

If you wipe system you must flash the rom twice. Anyone that has followed long enough remembers the double flashing days till I fixed it. Well its back.

So to update from any cm9 rom with wipe

    Factory reset
    Flash rom
    Flash gapps
    Simple.

To update from any cm9 without wiping.

    Flash rom
    Flash gapps
    Simpler.

To update from cm7, miui, gingerbread, etc

    Wipe system
    Factory reset
    Flash rom
Flash rom again(notice it takes longer)
    Flash gapps
    Profit

    What about dalvik cache?
Well it sits on data and is checked every boot. If it detects a change it will erase the old cache and rebuild. So if you do a factory reset you erase dalvik cache. If you upgrade versions without a wipe it magically erases dalvik for you.

    What about data or cache?
Factory reset wipes data, cache, and apks installed on any sdcards.

Why should I only wipe system if coming from a non-cm9 based rom?
Cm9 has install scripts that copy certain noncm parts from system, installs then puts it back. If nothing is there it can't copy. Thus flashing twice.

    When do I flash gapps?
    Every single time.

    My battery sucks?
Cm9 handles a lot more open apps then gingerbread. Multitasking is spectacular with ics. However running 70+ apps at once turns your phone into my ex and literally sucks the life out of your battery. This explains why there is such a drastic difference between battery life's with different users. Also keep in mind that we are using a froyo kernel, drivers from 3 different devices and none are ics tegra ap20 based, and this is still beta.

So why do people get an attitude with me?
Because you don't search or read. I purposely don't hold peoples hand. You must read at least some. There is always a risk with flashing anything custom. The more I baby people the dumber the questions get, however once stable I'll dumb it down to anyones level and tweak it to death. Currently I'm only going for a fully functional cm9. Then comes the fun

Look this isn't a stable rom. Its not completed. Currently I'm trying to get sw encoding going for the camcorder. Right now that is causing the camera to run sluggish. Oc and you'll be fine in landscape. Camera does work. You people do realize we have no ics kernel or drivers? The fact that it works at all is pretty good considering how many devices out there don't have ics at all much less have camera.

When I get time I'll make some revert flashables for people that don't like new test builds. I don't want 500000000 posts of flash this revert to get cm9 working. If you need what that revert has fine just don't direct everyone to only do it your way.

This is a beta development project. I will be experimenting and breaking perfectly good stuff to find better setups. By the time I'm done cm9 will be close to perfect.
