Just wanted to say that the "Seamless Dark White" theme along with "BackToBlack" icons is pretty nice. Just dont use the lock screen. lol

Most of the games I play still run (Worms, Sentinel) but the sound doesn't work. That's not a big issue for me because I usually turn my phone down all the way when I play games anyways.
I would suggest anyone curious about this ROM to go ahead and give it a go, just know that it is kind of buggy but it isn't unusable. The kinks should be worked out in a timely manner and you could use this short period to familiarize yourself with MIUI if you haven't used it in the past (the launcher, messenger, browser, ext).
Seems like some people here and completely new to MIUI, here are a few little tricks you can do with this ROM. Most that I have tried work (screenshot just reboots my device). These seem a little goofy, but trust me, you'll miss them should you choose to leave MIUI

I hope this gets updated soon. There are some decent bugs the more I use it. The phone soft reboots sometimes, wifi shuts off with the screen even though I switched to never in settings, app force closes, sound issues as clearly noted, video issues, wake lock issue, android system using a lot of battery, etc. I'm not trying to shy people away. I love miui and was waiting for this release. I'm just posting bugs I've seen.

Wow first time using miui... ever. I must say I had my doubts after using cm7, but so far it seems real nice. Thanks Ace and all others whose work went into this.

I hear you on some of those bugs, but the battery getting burned out quickly seems weird to me. I am going on 12 hours of decent usage and still at 66%
by decent usage i mean: downloaded some themes and apps, streaming music for 45+ min, texting, calling, wifi on (when it works), auto sync on, and more.
Have you tried using battery calibration? its a free app in the market and i use it every time i flash a new rom and it seems to have helped any issues with my phone.

Finally we have working MIUI for D2, appriciate OP and Dev's work and time.
Thinks I used often all working except minor minor wifi issue. It won't re-connect after wake up. I have to do OFF/ON in setting page to make it re-connect. Hope we will have fix in next beta.

Yea im seeing it in root explorer....but i cant access anything but sd card in the file explorer that comes stock....and music app isnt finding any of my songs but there there when i view in root explorer.....

I gotta say also, I was a little like "ehh.. why do I need another rom, I already have cm7". But I went for it, had a few issues installing, but it was my fault for trying to hurry. But now I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Don't know why, but the screen seems crisper and brighter, I don't really notice any issues with it that I don't like, had to customize some things, but that is expected of course.
Very nice work. If I decide to keep my dx2 then I am probably going to stick with this rom, not that cm7 was bad or anything, because it was also very good, I just really like the look and feel of this one.
Next step, cross fingers hoping that someone figures out how to unlock the stupid bootloader thing because the only problem I currently have STILL is no 3g/data at all, not even 1g. I have tried everything, but as far as I can tell, until we get a unlocked bootloader, I can't even begin to find out how to fix it.
I think my problem however stems from the fact that I purchased the phone off cl (ya, I know... bad idea) for a very good price, and activated it on Alltel. I think the phone has a bad esn with verizon, as alltel doesn't seem to check where I live. But, since alltel uses verizons data network, it is probably blocked somehow.

Pretty sure only Verizon phones will work on Verizon. Something about cdma or something. I could be totally wrong though.

Actually, Verizon ownes most of Alltel now after a buyout. I have used many phones with Verizon, and usually no problems until now.
AT&T ownes another part of Alltel i believe, not 100% sure about that one though. But looking at my wifes phone, which is an Alltel Milestone X, it does show that the data is directed at Verizon. So, I am def on Verizon's data, even though I am still using Alltel. So, unless I can find a quick way around this, I have to either find a way to resolve the problem about a possible bad ESN (change the esn to a known good esn? which is very illegal I guess?), or find out why my phone isn't connecting to Verizon's network, which is even more difficult, or find out why it has a bad esn and resolve that matter (unpaid account?) OR just give up and revert to a good phone for my data.
Problem is, I love the Qhd display or whatever it is called of the dx2, and the screen size, but my only "fall back" phone is the desire, which works fine, but it is def not the dx2. Alltel now offers the "milestone x2" on their webpage, but for a crazy amount of money WITH an account renewall, which I can't do until August of this year, so not going to work.
So, only remaining question is, can I flash LEGALLY my esn to my esn of my desire, if I discard my desire phone? AND/OR is there another way around the bad ESN possible problem?
I'd suggest moving them to your external SD or just upping them to Google Music. I've actually moved about 16GBs of music from my 32GB card to Google Music and despite a couple hiccups here and there I am very happy I did. Plus you can install/sign into Google Music on up to 10 devices. Love having access to a lot of my music on my Nook, PC, Wife's iPhone, ext.

Have you even asked alltell? That work have been the first thing I would have done. Ask them why your x2 won't connect.

Oh, such a long story. But yes I have. First alltel that I got too "tried" to get the phone to work. He told me it wouldn't work, so I left and discovered my old phone (the htc desire) didn't work no more, voice or data. So I stopped at an actual corporate store, explained the problem to them. They looked at my dx2, pushed a couple buttons on their computer screen and all of a sudden my voice worked. So, thinking it was all good, I left. Then I called alltel once I realized my data worked and they told me that there was a problem with the phone, I needed to purchase a new one from them. Of course, I didn't do that, and as of now, I am at the same boat. No data at all. Wireless works of course, and voice and regular sms, but that is it. No MMS, no 3g/data, no 1g/data, no data at all.

MIUI4DX2 Beta 1

This wouldn't have been here without the combined efforts of all the devs who worked on 2nd-init and CM7 so thanks to all and of course thanks to aceoyame (I DID NOT MAKE THIS AT ALL, JUST POSTING IT ON BEHALF OF ACEOYAME).
Note:
This requires Dragonzkiller's modified BSR (posted in CM7 thread and linked here for convenience).
Includes:
- Same Hardware working as CM7 i.e. CDMA/3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, Camera.
- ICS Framework
- MIUI US apps
- MIUI Control panel
- Black Ice theme default
Known Issues:
- MIUI's camera FC's on saving pictures. This release is using CM7's camera app which works
- Screenshots are crashing system server
- The Black Ice Theme may not apply fully on install. Just choose it in the theme manager after install and you should be good to go.
- FM and HDMI is not working
How to Install:
- Nandroid Backup
- SBF to 2.3.4 unless you are already there.
- Root your Motorola Droid X2.
- Install the Motorola Droid X2 Bootstrap Recovery (BSR).
- Put the MIUI4DX2 zip and the dragonzkiller's patched BSR apk on the external SD card.
- Boot into BootStrap Recovery.
- YOU MUST WIPE DATA AND CACHE! This has 4.0 framework and is very different from CM7's or any other ROM's 2.3.x framework.
- Install the MIUI4DX2 zip.
- IMPORTANT! Wipe data and cache (factory reset) and wipe dalvik cache!
- Boot your phone into MIUI. (You will probably have to activate if you didn't after you SBF'd and setup your Google account here.)
- Install the patched Motorola Droid X2 Bootstrap Recovery (BSR). (This can be found in the download section of this post. Once you have MIUI4DX2 installed, you MUST install this BSR!)
- Go into the Android Market and update the apps on the phone.
- Sit back and enjoy MIUI on your DX2!
- Never user RomManager! NEVER DELETE ANYTHING FROM PREINSTALL!
NOTE: If you get a hang on the M after the install, it may be because you did not wipe data and cache. Try getting into stock recovery by having the phone off, pressing the Vol Down and Power Buttons until the "Fastboot" appears on your screen, scroll DOWN until you see the "Android Recovery" and press Vol Up. You will then see an android with an exclamation point. Press BOTH volume buttons and scroll down to "Wipe Data." Press the power button to select it and scroll down to "Yes" and select that. Then reboot and WAIT! The initial boot takes the longest. If this still doesn't work, THEN SBF and follow the directions above EXACTLY.
Using the Patched Bootstrap Recovery With MIUI4DX2
In order to get into recovery with MIUI4DX2 you ABSOLUTELY MUST download the patched BSR APK located in the download section of this post! There was a problem with the "hijack" name. It is conflicting with the CM7 hijack (MIUI uses CM7 hijack). NEVER install the original BSR while in MIUI4DX2! This is a guaranteed way to boot loop your phone! It might not boot loop the first couple of reboots, but it will... Eventually!

Wow, have you ever had to do something like what Ace has been doing? He DOES have a full-time job and is married, so he's doing this on his own time in addition to balancing a work load and marriage.
ACE is having to take MIUI code and get it working on a device it wasn't written for specifically. In the case of what he was having issues with, it's not open-source. Apparently, the MIUI team owns it and doesn't release the source, so he is at their mercy right now. And, with this not being an official MIUI release (just like CM7 isn't an official Cyanogenmod release), Ace has to rely on others to help out and not the MIUI team. It's not like he HASN'T been working hard at this.
Seems a little ungrateful and it's that attitude that has caused other developers to leave XDA and not develop for Android phones.
I can understand if you paid him to deliver you something, but considering he's doing this and not charging us a penny for it (only asking for donations), could we show him some more respect?
Let's instead be grateful and thankful that he even got us a very functional and sustainable MIUI build.
Not trying to belittle you or anything, but the post just came across wrong. If you meant no harm by it, then I apologize, but I've seen too many developers scared away when people make comments like what you just did.3
Easiest way to get top bar to work is
1) Change to top bar in settings
2) Go to the MIUI control panel app
3) Change the color of the top bar under color settings
4) Go back to Battery settings and click "Show battery" off and then on
Then it should show up.

FYI For everyone
If you see Android System using quite a bit of battery (like on mine) you can use TiBU to freeze the app called "Telocation Provider". AFAIK this has something to do with the Chinese ROM and will not affect us or do anything good for us except drain battery. We use to disable it on my Captivate and Inspire.
Also, apparently there is a wake lock issue and thats why Android OS is using 50% CPU on my phone lol.2Just wanted to share a helpful tip for us Droid X2 MIUI users since a lot of the themes arent the right resolution for us. Maybe some of you could find this useful. There are also a lot of themes that have been converted by users in the thread already as well.

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=9515101Ok as posted in the older thread when sitting on the home screen and pressing the up volume rocker 2 to 3 time it causes a hot reboot, coupled with that the sound settings are taking effect or something because I get sound on and off on the system. example I have it set to click when selecting an item and it doesn't, however the unlock sound does work. The music player doesn't play, it gives you about 2 secs of play (no sound) and then stops. It doesn't FC or anything just doesn't work.
I have tried a reboot to fix some of these with no luck.
EDIT: Changing from the default theme fixed the sounds issues.
