So, title of the thread is misleading and I can't install this recovery with locked bootloader?

You can, but not while being in 4.3 with no recovery sadly.

No, it's correct but the only exception is JB4.3 roms on the Z1 and ZU... It will become true again once there is a rootkit for these roms again...

That would be philz.

Okay, thank you.
So, basically, I can't achieve combination of stock ROM+custom recovery on 4.3 f\w and locked bootloader?

Because iirc OTA won't work with custom recovery installed and PC Companion wipes root (and possibly custom recovery too) while doing upgrade. Or am I missing something?

I was on .257 (rooted) and what i did was:

1) flash a 4.3 rom (NUT's stock, romaur, other)
2) without rebooting, reflash recovery
3) power off
4) flash the provided stipped FTF
5) Profit

I kept a .257 nandroid for my app's data, but after flashing 4.3 i never again had IMEI on lower than 4.3 roms :P

You can't get pure stock 4.3 with root and recovery (i don't even know how you got semi-rooted on a stock rom on 4.3).

4.3 OTA still keeps root if you had it on 4.2.

And you didn't have recovery when you updated I guess?

Then you are out of luck for now...

eventhough you have root, its a semi root because you can't edit system or rootfs.

You have an option to use my update-to package though... but I still need to figure out what is causing the bootloops when you don't wipe everything...

The alternative is to use BackupTA and unlock your bootloader after making a backup... but that will also wipe data and internal storage

Yeah, that sucks. Btw, does relocking wipe the device again?

Let's think about scenario like this: unlock->flash kernel with ric_disabled(do I need custom recovery for this? I'm not sure if Flashtool will work too)->install xposed and adaway(I don't need anything else)->flash stock kernel from ftf->relock with restoring TA. Will it work?

No, re-locking the device does not wipe it again.

If you use a kernel with recovery from the root on 4.3 discussion thread you can then flash this recovery to keep full root after re-locking.
