(UPDATED) workaround for throttled with the APN trick!

I'll tell you my story..It works for me I just switch to tmobile last week and i got the 10gb 4G speed data. My White SGS2 is fully stock Rom. Since last week ive been lightly browsing and my data went to 2.2GB..uh-oh not happy with that. Then yesterday I rooted my SGS2 with BeastMod4.2+Synergy (best rom evah!) then after that i changed my Apn settings and ive been downloading song in grooveshark, listening to pandora, Netflix and i even download 8 movies like 650mb's per movie in the total of 8GB. After hours and hours of heavy browsing and downloading in a 4G network, i went to check my account in "my t-mobile" i was like WoW! my data didn't change at all!!! still stuck in 2.2GB!!! What a great Xmas gift for me Thanks to Kabuk1..i love you man!!!

Doesn't work here for me sadly. I'm going to tear apart services , wipe throttling , and rebuild it in the morning . Ill report back
OK
I took apart services.jar, removed all throttling services and rebuilt it. No luck
It looks like they absolutely throttle server side. Ive tried all APN's and still no go. It looks like ill be upping my service plan >.>
You guys need to be unthrottled when you are trying to do this. If you have already hit your high speed data cap then it will simply not work. Hopefully that will clear some things up with people why its not working?

Once my billing cycle restarts i'll try it out, since people are saying it works with the 5gb plan i just bumped down from the 10gb plan to the 5 gb plan, hopefully it works

Makes no sense. I tried it before I was throttled and 2gb before I hit my limit. As soon as I hit my limit, it throttled me asap.

35Ok so I was being throttled because I went over my data cap. Very easy to do when streaming Netflix when on the go and streaming Pandora Radio when at work. My data connection was slowed down so much that most everything would time out. So then I found another post saying that changing you APN settings would stop you from being throttled. As always I said yea sure but guess what it work as you will see in my screen shots! Sounds crazy but it worked for me!

So, to get this Trick to work just look at the screenshots posted below!
should tell you everything you need to know. all the correct settings are shown in the screenshots! no reason to write a book on how to do it! Hope this updated trick helps you guys out! So, I don't get a 100 PMs asking me how to do the Trick. since everything is posted right here! So, Enjoy!
FAIR WARNING trick will only work BEFORE your throttled. So test it out before your Throttled or it won't work. Trick might not work for everyone but works for me and many others! GOOD LUCK!!

Update!!
Ok so for people that are having issues getting this to work try this!
Must be rooted and have Root Explorer installed.
Step 1
Using Root Explorer go to data then system folder and scroll down and look for the folder called throttle
Step 2
Click and open the throttle folder. Depending if your throttled or not there will be 1 or 2 folders. Click and erase these folders!
Step 3
Now back out of the folder and now click and hold on the throttle folder a menu will pop up with a few options
Click on the Permissions option!
Step 4
Ok now change the permissions like how it is in this screenshot!
Only read and execute should be checked!
Step 5
Now once the permissions have be changed back out of Root Explorer and reboot your device. Now once your device reboots try it and see if your being throttled or not

And if anyone thinks this is "stealing"- then don't do it. Data is a huge cash cow for carriers, it costs them next to nothing & our data plans are almost pure profit for them. Trust me, no CEO is gonna go hungry cause a handful of phone geeks are exploiting a loophole. So- and I'm not trying to be a ***** or anything- quit cluttering up the thread with this sanctimonious, sympathy-for-big-business BS. You do realize youre on a website devoted to *hacking phones*, right? Most of the stuff we do on this site is frowned upon or outright forbidden by the telcos. T-Mobile advertises unlimited data with x amount of 4G & reduced speeds afterwards, not unlimited data with x amount of 4G & virtually UNUSABLE achingly slow data afterwards. If they just slowed us down to 3G after our limits, there'd be no problems, but kicking us back to almost GPRS is horse **** no matter how you look at it.

correct me if I'm wrong, but because this is nothing related to warez. warez is illegal. doing this is not illegal, just a "loophole" if i may call it that.
also, I doubt people who know this apn trick constitutes a majority of all T-mobile users. but yes, eventually more and more people will know this trick and the system will be abused, but this is how the world works. I guess it is "righteous" of you to remind us that t-mobile will change their data plans due to this increasing abuse, but hey, i doubt anyone would look at your post and be like "oh you are right, I should not do this apn trick and get stuck with 2gb/5gb/10gb limit just so t-mobile wouldn't change their plans". you (and maybe a few others?) are probably the only ones who don't give this a try if you ran into this thread and actually needs more than 5gb of data.
ultimately, it's just too bad for you. no one is making any "justification BS" for this. the trick is there, we see it, we use it. It's not that we don't like to be reminded for the fact that we are abusing the system, it's that your post is pointless. of course we know that we aren't "supposed" to do this. if this "unfairness" bothers you, consider moving to north korea.3
