Can I install it like an update for CM or do I need full wipe / factory reset?

My 7.1.13 ROM seems to shut down after some time without any notification, so it's turned off and I assume it being turned on.

It's not a full ROM, so if you were to do a full wipe before flashing, you would end up with a bricked phone.

When flashing different kernels, there usually should be no need to wipe anything, which is especially true in this case when there is just one tiny detail different....

Just flash and reboot - it will work fine ;)

If you are referring to the fixed 20130107 kernel I posted in#14696 just follow the instructions I gave (which are different from the way a normal release is flashed!). If the kernel comes as a flashable ZIP (which mine does not) you'd just flash the zip without changing anything else. If you are pedantic you might want to clear cache/dalvik on the extreme off chance that some kernel change would affect the data Android would dump there.

My phone survived the night without reboot, I think the bug is fixed.

---------- Post added at 07:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:50 AM ----------

Today I compiled a new ROM using current git because I am interested in
this commit: https://github.com/Quarx2k/android/commit/f62dc675350a4c88a8531d8c7e0ecab98bed6b73
I reverted that ROM because of the reboot-after-standby bug. As we already
know it was caused by a commit done on the very same Jan 2nd:
https://github.com/Quarx2k/jordan-k...e8947205cac/drivers/video/omap2/dss/display.c

I did not post my reboot experiences with my ROM because I thought it was
caused by a miscompilation on my part. I promise not to keep such information
private in future ;)

You could go for 17.11.2012 I guess you should not have the ringtone bug, and the build was somewhat stable. No reboots (Own experience. on defy+ )

As far as I know eleventh month is still November, not December. :silly:

And, for Pete's sake, why won't nobody read the FAQ? It's a very good FAQ. The amount of repeated questions is ridiculous.

Ringtone Bug

I'd like to mention a fact.

I have tried out the theory of some forum user who said that the ringtone bug is related to WLAN. (23.11.2012 build)

I have now 2 days 10 hours without reboot and the ringtone bug materialized.
I have not used WLAN at all. just some 3G, listening to music, one game(The moron test), and calls, and connected to PC through USB.

That is quite it.

This ringtone bug is evil, i keep missing calls.

Is it gone in the latest build?

I noticed my defy+ heating up a lot more than before while using the 7.1.12 build. Feels like 40 - 50 °C.
Is that normal or should I use another ROM?

Although this is not normal, this build has it... during charging my phone is heating like radiator and after unplugging from charger energy flows from battery like water in Niagara falls.

I suggest to everyone to use the modded kernel posted here by a user, fixed the reboots AND the battery drain problem.

I appreciate some of the comments here about the difficulty of keeping threads like this cleaned and organized, especially with so many users not following instructions. However, this is the job I signed up for, so it's not a big deal. :)

That being said, since nothing else seems to be working, I'm going to temporarily close this to force people to use the other support threads for this ROM. If you have a legitimate bug to report and serious question that needs answering, use the support threads (an absolute last resort would be PMing the developer). This will be reopened at the appropriate time.
