There is also one other piece of information that will be helpful to those people having issues getting their sd card reconized--do NOT insert it until you are at the magicloader menu. Once you have the menu up insert it and wait about 20 seconds. Then try to set the boot directory via the service menu. This works every time. I had done all the other tricks but still couldn't get it to work...so I thought what the heck--I'll pull out the card and then reinsert it. That seems to be the issue at least on my phone.
I only thought of this because on my tp2 running my company mail, i have to remove my sd card when I boot and wait until all of their security stuff runs before inserting or the phone doesn't know it is there....
This really works! Before i tried this I wasn't able to use the Recovery with my 8GB SD card, it only worked with my 2GB one. But with this trick I got it to work with my 8GB card. Thank you!
Just power off your phone. Then power back on and hold the power button pressed. Now you should get to the MAGLDR menu.
Oh, if you mean the bootloader for RUU flashing then just power your phone on while pressing the vol down button. It works for me.

I tried my first backup process now but I keep having error:
Can't mount /boot/!
E: Can't mount cache:recovery log
E: Can't open cache:recovery log
E: Can't find misc

thats because the backup only works if the rom installed uses boot, system and data partition, if it doesnt have those 3 it will error
ok. thanks. any chance you can point me to the direction where I can back up my nand build so that I won't start from scratch while I test other builds?

Try HARDER. Hold Volume down button while powering on...keep it held. I just finished flashing a boot screen so I know it works.
I found this on YouTube..a very very helpful video showing exactly how to install a zip nand using clockwork recovery.i know there's a video already on how to install the clockwork itself but when he starts to show how to actually install the zip..it's kind of vague because he already has a few installed. I have old friend I just flashed the NAND version, & made a backup thru clockwork. Flash clockwork in magldr & restore.

HD2 Recovery v1.1 is now up, now based on CWM 3.0.0.5 so has gingerbread base
I'm going to uprade to V. 1.1, can you enlight me about the " partition layout", if i'm not wrong they werent in previous version.

So, if I understand it correctly, this is the size of the system partition in NAND? If I have a Leo512 and use 250MB partition and if use data in NAND that would mean I would have 512-250 MB for my data in NAND? Is that correct?

19Keep your current ROM and still create Recovery Partition
Running DAF.exe with erase your current ROM out of NAND. It needs to do this to repartition. But, just running Clockwork does not remove your current ROM. Stay with me here...
I just loaded up CW recovery WITHOUT repartitioning first, and then backed up my current ROM. Now then repartitioned and restored my backed up ROM. [It works]!
Steps takenr:
- Copied file from "copy_to_sd_root" to ./Recov on SD
- Rebooted (need to do this to set SD boot Dir correctly, or you will get green text flash)
- Set ./Recov as my SD boot Dir.
- Booted to SD... Yes. Into Clockwork.
- It said "E:Can't find MISC:" but looked good other than that.
- Ran Backup. Waited. "Backed up boot, system, data, .android-secure, and cache. It skipped the sd-ext as I do not have one.
- Said "Backup complete!"
- Reboot back into MAGDLR and follow the rest of the steps (Flash using DAF.exe) to repartition. Now it will not boot to NAND. Tried it.
- Boot into CW Recovery using SD boot again
- Now see if your restore works.
- When the restore is done, reboot back into MAGDLR and choose NAND boot and it should boot back into your ROM just as you left it!
It worked for me. Should I create a Tutorial/Walk-through topic? I will just leave this here for now and get some feed back. I make no promises that it will work for you.
