So I recently acquired a free G1 from a friend and was interested in getting it rooted right away. However, the SD Card slot is broken. The phone does not detect any SD card that is inserted into the phone.

Is it possible to root this phone without being able to connect the Phone to the PC? Can I send all the necessary files via Bluetooth and use something like Files explorer to move necessary files and etc?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much

Eugene

probably , but don't have time to walk you through it all

+ it would be painfully slow

and a g1 without an sdcard is pretty much crippled as to what you can do with it

if you really want to do it, do via adb over wifi

search for adb tcp

you would have to put zips on cache* and symlink or bind mount to trick recovery into thinking sdcard was mounted

as I said, painfully slow

* or even data for larger stuff

yeah. I reccomend flashing a nice rom via this cache trick and sticking with it. the new rom *MIGHT* fix the sd slot as well.

Firerat knows everything, i was just going to post the trick for flashing from cache, but he beat me lol
