Flashing the kernel reports success but somehow does not happen. The default Kernel is still there. Any idea why or what to do?
BTW, it is a Rogers Jetstream with unlocked bootloader.

are you referring to the insecure kernel?
if you do,
it's a one-time thing. you flash and its gone after the first of second reboot. you only need it to root the device, i think.
it either that, or the developer just forgot to change the title..
i remember encountering the same thing, but it shouldn't matter. the root process should still work.

Another 23 attempts of the same resulted finally in success. Thanks.

[/COLOR][ part 1: hotbooting the insecure kernel ]

  1. download the insecure kernel (v02)
  2. reboot into fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader)
  3. check if device is detected (fastboot devices)
  4. if its detected then hotboot this kernel u downloaded (fastboot boot filename.img)
  5. the device will start booting
  6. now go to part 2

[ part 2: executing the rooting toolkit ]

  1. download the v02 toolkit for JetStream files and extract contents in root directory of ur pc (e.g: c:\ OR d:\)
  2. activate USB debugging
  3. connect device (with my insecure kernel on it) to pc
  4. execute RUNME.bat

thats it ;)

ur device should now be permanently rooted after reboot...

Thanks guru_shastri, I also need these files just in case.

In China Shenzhen, we just pay US$1.6 and enjoy unlock, root and flash a new rom. The shifu put in a AT&T for me. But one day I'll try EI_diablo. Gonna cut the the "extra" folder completely, kill all the LIVEwallpapers, lightening is fast :) did that to my P1000, other friends also says noticeably faster at everything, boot, change window etc.
