exactly..i remember when it was first implemented into the scene..it was just what the doctor ordered.

honestly it is what it is, i dont see myself running MIUI anytime in the near future.

no discredit to those who try and try to get this thing solid, but we have so much that has evolved since. Its kind of a step in the wrong direction flashing the miui os.

I wouldn't say that. Every time I look through the post your miui screenshots thread I reminisce about my evo and all my themes. Changing status bar icons has been so hard for me to do on touchwiz, changes won't stick. So I can't wait to get miui working on a stable basis

Bleelas.. you stated using cm10 as a base causes issues (no **** not arguing that at all). My question/idea is what about using TW as a base? I know it is possible on HTC devices to use Sense as the base for the ROM. Is that even possible with our phones? If it was possible, wouldn't that offer a few less bugs?

I've never done it personally but I think/have heard that it introduces a whole new host of problems.

I think a lot of blame lies with Google. AOSP is really designed/tested to run well only on one phone - Nexus. Oem's have to do a lot of work to make it run on their phones, and CM has to do all the work as well for the devices they support. Which is why we are constantly waiting for drivers/RIL etc.

I think it also goes the other way. Manufacturers force us to use their closed source addons which corrupt the pure android experience.

I built miui for the RAZR maxx with blur and let me tell you it is so much more work with all of the framework edits and what not that these companies do, miui is based off of aosp so it will always be easier to port from (aosp-like) ROMs ex cm9/10 aokp and the multitude of others.

Alrighty guys good night!

I have Two Finals tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Let's see if we can get my Thanks meter up to 750 by the time I'm off School tomorrow! :D :D :D :D

Here's the latest build:
http://d-h.st/OMs - Build II

Don't forget to follow me on Twitter and Google+ to see these updates, status reports on them, and other shizz first! I always post on there while I'm tinkering with stuff!

Code:
[Y] = Wipe | [N] = No Wipe

12/4/12: Squash Squash Squash! Bugs be gone! [Y]
- Fixed LED Notification Light
- Fixed SMS Split (Go into Settings and Change Conversion to "1")
- Fixed NFC (if coming from TW ICS)
- GPU Config Edits
- Build.prop Edits + Enchancements
- Removed unnecessary apps
- Added in JB 4.2 Cam Lib; (not Camera)
- System Stabilization - CM Merges + MIUI Kangs; Should survive a third of the day without rebooting
- Fix for Verizon Apps
- Lockscreen Edits; Still Lags, but genereally any lockscreen theme aside from the ones like the default will kill the lag

Other notes:
- Do I need to wipe?
Yes
- What's changed?
See below
- Where do I download?
See below
- SMS Split fix? Sweet-- but it's not working?!
In the main screen of the messaging app, tap the menu key, then go to Setting, then change the MMS Conversion number from "3" to "1".

- NFC fix? What?! Doesn't work?!
This applies only to those who are coming from the way our phones were supposed to be-- TW ICS. If you're coming from JB TW, it probably won't work.
- My device restarted during the first reboot! Is it bootlooping?!
No. It may need to 'boot' twice.

And of course in the case of a bad download and you get one of these Questions, just redownload:
- I'm actually bootlooping
Reflash. Don't wipe
- I'm still bootlooping
Reflash. Wipe
- I'm still bootloping
You probably got a bad download, redownload and check MD5.
- It won't flash; it aborts in recovery
Bad download. Redownload and flash.

You rule man! Thanks!!

I have a quick question too - does the 'fix for Verizon apps' mean that Visual Voice Mail will work? Not sure if that's what that means so I wanted to ask.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick question,

If you have more than 1 contact for a person, such as work and mobile #, and you goto send a text message does it say which # is which? The previous build just had 2 contacts with the name. My co-workers work phones dont recieve texts, so I had to guess which # was their personal before. TouchWiz roms say mobile or work in the dropdown

Hey I have noticed that location services aren't working in G+, Fbook and also using my One more clock widget app. Gos works fine though. Am I doing something wrong? I have all locations selected

up and running! StrummerJohn, YOU DA MAN!

everything working smooth so far, will test out battery and get back to you but so far so good!

thanks for getting MIUI up and running on GSIII :good:

:cyclops:

edit: ok, one bug: i didn't come from a TW ICS ROM, so that is where the problem is, but NFC on mine is borked. Try turning it on, and the link just fades out. AND short of odin'ing back to stock, i no longer have a working TW ICS nandroid to work off.
Tried flashing a fix i have from another forum that works on CM10 based ROMs, but that was a definite NO GO! Massive FC's to the point i had to pull battery

SO... first bug i have found so far, and other than that, seems to be working great!

haven't really tested them, and personnaly, don't worry too much until it starts "feeling" like it is slow.

I only worry because I've read past builds really effected it. Plus I don't want my speed throttled by a Rom while I'm paying for the service

Test it out... worst case scenario, go back to your nandroid. I've never noticed any difference in LTE speeds using strumer's builds.. JUST DO NOT CLICK MOBILE NETWORKS IN SETTINGS

The RIL should be working now! If you have any problems with your network, look through this thread for answers. If you don't find what you're looking for, before you do anything drastic like sending your phone back, PM me.

As SJ mentioned, a new build is in the works. I didn't use the most recent CM and MIUI bases because I'm more concerned with stability at this point. The RIL should work fine now so don't worry about mobile network settings anymore :)

EDIT: Just realized I forgot to fix the capacitive button lights. Guess that's for the next release!

    FAQ
[Q] Dev-Host is not loading for me! Help! What did I do wrong?!
    A. Relax. You didn't do anything wrong. First of all check what browser you're using; if you're using Internet Explorer, go ahead and close it and delete system32 (J/K). --1. Make sure that your browser is up to date. If the issue still exists, make sure that your anti-virus software or firewall is not blocking dev-host. Sometimes our malware guardians overeat to shortened URLs and tend to freak out over some like "d-h.st". If you're still experiencing issues, contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and double check that they haven't blocked dev-host from you.

[Q] How do I install this?
    A. There's steps in the first post above, but if you insist on me reiterating: First download it and put it on your phone. Then reboot into the recovery. Lastly, wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache then Install the ZIP file.

[Q] Why am I getting an Install Error?
    A. Well I'm not sure actually. It's something you're experiencing on your end. To keep you from having to redownload the ROM again, check to see if your Recovery is up to date first. I recommend the latest version of TWRP. If you're still having issues then redownload the ROM as your download may have gotten mistakenly corrupted as data packets were being transferred from dev-host to your computer or from your computer to your phone.

    [Q] Why am I bootlooping?
    A. Well I'm not sure actually. It's something you're experiencing on your end. To begin with however, pull out your battery then put it back in your phone. It should be off now. NOW hold down Power, Volume UP, and Home Key all at the same time so that your phone reboots into the recovery. Now wipe data, and cache and flash the ROM again. If the issue still persists, check to make sure that your recovery is up to date and or that you have a copy of the ROM that did not corrupt at all when downloading.

[Q] Why is it taking so long for my device to turn back on?
    A. Well usually the first boot on any ROM takes a while as the phone is preparing the system as it would as if the phone was new. Give the phone about 5 minutes to perform the initial boot. If it still gets stuck, then you may be bootlooping.

[Q] Why won't the keyboard pop up?!
    A. Egh. I hate this. It's not really a bug or an issue it's just that the stupid MIUI Tutorial text at the notification bar prevents it from popping up the first few times. Try and get the tutorial text to go away and then re-hit the text field that you wanted to type in again.

[Q] Why is the launcher a bit laggy after booting up?
    A. It is still preparing all of your apps and possible actions you may do (e.g. swipe left)

[Q] Why does the Recorder App give me an error?
    A. Because you need to go into it's settings and change the file record type to 3gpp to AMR

[Q] Why doesn't the NavBar work in the JB Control Panel?
    A. Because I removed it's functionality as it caused major issues.

[Q] Why isn't MI Camera included in this?
    A. It's not included in almost any MIUI JellyBean ROM because it's proprietary to the MI-Phones.

[Q] Why aren't my Voicemails playing or loading?
    A. They take a few minutes to initially load off of Verizon's Servers and Download

[Q] Why are there multiple weather widgets?
    A. One (maybe two) are for the Chinese and International Weather services and then one is for the app that is for USA Weather

[Q] How do I get the USA Weather Widget to load?
    A. Open up the app first and add your city

[Q] Why does the USA Weather App has displaced sides?
    A. Because it wasn't made for HD Screens. And no I won't and can't fix it. Don't use it if you don't like it; uninstall it.

[Q] Why does the Download Manager keep yelling at me whenever I try to download things?
    A. Because Xiaomi was stupid and made a stupid prompt that is broken on a ton of variants of MIUI. To fix it (semi), open the app called Downloads (under Tools folder), then tap menu, then settings, then change the File Size Limit from 1M to 10M and then slide the "data download prompt" slider off.

[Q] Why doesn't my NFC work?
    A. It should. If it doesn't then you must have been living under a rock for the past half a year because all it takes to fix it was to be on TouchWiz Jellybean and toggle it.

[Q] What do I chose for the ViperAudio MOD Application for my board / CPU / phone type?
    A. Cortex A8

[Q] Why doesn't the camera icon theme in all/every theme?
    A. I don't know, it's up to the app itself to theme and since it's not something like MI-Cam.apk it probably doesn't meet the parameters of the theme. Some themes may have a parameter that just is along the lines of "theme-all-camera-related-apks"

[Q] Why is my device ID a "Galaxy Nexus" in the About Device / Phone and in the Play Store?
    A. Make sure that you Restore the Build.Prop in the Wallet Installer App if you installed Google Wallet

[Q] Why is the GPS not locking on fast or accurately?
    A. If it still does not seem to like your device, get PimpMyROM off of the Google PlayStore and manually set your GPS.cfg file using the App and reprovision it to your region.

[Q] Why doesn't my screen turn on right away after hitting the power button?
    A. You either undervolted or underclocked the phone too low or your theme is causing the system to hold up and wait on the theme to load it's lockscreen.

[Q] Why doesn't my camera work?
    A. You need to download and install the I535VRBMB1 Firmware. Get it from Invisiblek off his website here.

    [Q] Why doesn't In-Call Recording work?
    A. It is region locked. It is illegal in many places so I had to disable it.

People, if you haven't tried this ROM yet and are tired of Touch Wiz you owe it to yourself. Data handoff is excellent, signal strength as good as TW and Bluetooth actually reconnects when you get back in your car! NFC is great, battery life is awesome and the themes available are simply mind blowing! Hats off to the devs working on CM and AOKP ROMs too but this is the best thing going as of right now.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Thanks! Compliments actually are more encouraging for us to get back to work on this than "When's the next update", "Did development stop on this?", "I want an ETA for update please. I want to change ROM."

I'll start working on this over the weekend. I'm a bit overwhelmed with absent work at the moment after being sick for so long. I'm in no hurry to read Wuthering Heights either >.<, so to put it that way, this isn't the only thing on the back burner (although I HAVE to read that damn book soon or I'll fail the tests on it).

If you're super impatient, I suggest you follow me on Google+ or Join the MIUI D2vZW Community as I often post what I'm doing myself or when an update is scheduled in the community.

We're also debating on a few matters with MIUIAndroid devs right now too. Plus Bleelas just got back from his Vacation.

I have a new build ready, and I can pull a Synergy for you guys and release it, but I'd rather everyone wait up more for a better product. To make you all feel better, I updated the date on the Thread for you if it makes you feel more "Up-to-date".

    Keep this in mind please:

We've gone a LONG ways with MIUI for the D2VZW.

    1. Back in August preview builds were shot up by numerous amounts of Devs across the internet for the d2vzw that were early alpha and very buggy
    2. BeansTown106 officially picked us up for a MIUI.us ROM and came out with his Alphas in September
    3. Bleelas released his BA MIUIAndroid builds with great functionality aside from Facebook and some other minor issues
    ------ Development Halted --------
    4. I released a small bug fix and patch kit for BeansTown's MIUI Alpha
    5. I picked up MIUI.us builds and did some nightlies
    6. I fixed a ton of bugs such as Face Unlock, Camera Force Close, NFC, and other shiz
------ Minor Conflict; Devlopment halted -------
    7. Bleelas became the first dev to fully patch the MIUI RIL like a beast
    ------- Halt in Development -----------
    8. Bleelas, BeansTown, I and other devs team up (roughly) and create a new MIUI.us build (although it was merely build ontop of the buggy alphas by BeansTown back in August)
--------- Long Pause in Development; Project died -------
    9. I pick up MIUI and begin doing updates and updated builds on it
    10. I team up with Bleelas and we create Build III, the solid base ground MIUI for the d2vzw and d2spr.
    11. We polish things off with minor enchaining builds up to where we are now Nearly bugless.

We are almost to perfection. Please just wait up a bit longer guys!
We're both very busy right now and have lost a bit of motivation, but we're never going to give anything up.

    Thank you for your understanding.
    - John.
