wipe/erase revisited
I have a little of the same issue as AppCritic, but some of it may be my lack of understanding. However I do not remember this being an issue on the hero.

I pushed three files (not including SU from the root thread) to my n1 for the corporate calendar and then wiped using both with the RA bootloader and using Factory Data Reset in the rom itself, the apks were still there when I rebooted.

I then tried fastboot erase userdata and it failed:
erasing 'userdata' .... FAILED (remote: not allowed)

fastboot erase cache completed successfully.

I then went in and rm'd the files manually but was curious why?
Also, a little off topic but I see it mentioned in this thread, how do I keep google from reloading all of the apps I downloaded?

Thanks!

I think I may have done something wrong here. Please advise. I did a wipe from the recovery menu--I'm assuming (correctly?) this is the same factory reset from the Settings menu--and it did not wipe my phone completely. After wiping from recovery, some traces, like the wallpaper and a few apps, were left on my phone. I did a factory rest from from the settings menu and it rebooted into recovery and performed a wipe there. It worked this time.

This is not really an issue for me as I am mostly curious. I'd like to know if it's something I'm doing wrong.

Try as root
I couldn't copy the new recovery image or delete the userdata/cache until I ran the fastboot-linux as (sudo) root. Hope that helps others.

also does anyone know the commands of getting amon_ra on OSX?

kind of like seraph1024 instructions for rooting. I am not sure of the commands needed to get the .img installed. I am in fastboot.

move the recovery.img into the android sdk folder and you should be good

then just type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

to be more clear, make sure you are in the fastboot usb on the phone just like on the root

type in fastboot devices and make sre you see a serial

JSHFS125321 fastboot something like that

then type
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.5.3.img
