Hello. I finally decided to unlock my bootloader and start trying roms. This is my first one for my Z1C. I'm having an FC problem (process "android.process.acore").. here is the process I followed:

I was already rooted on 4.3 stock so I started by backing up my TA (of course! :D)

1) I flashed FTF D5503-14.3.A.0.757_GenericDE_(1279-6978) and was using that for a day or so.
2) Unlocked bootloader via Sony official method
3) Flashed DoomKernel (Z1C-Unofficial-DooMKernel-v19) via fastboot so I could get into recovery easily
4) Booted into TWRP recovery, did full wipe
5) Flashed CandyKat-v1.5.0-Official-release--20140609 and then flashed gapps (Slim_AIO_gapps.4.4.2.build.5.6-45)
6) Powered phone off. Then back on, to start booting the ROM.
7) I went through the initial setup just fine - at this point I did not have my SIM card or microSD card inserted. No FC's or anything... I chose a launcher and navigated a bit to make sure everything was OK.
8) Turned off phone. Inserted my SIM and MicroSD (kingston 64gig SDXC)
9) Booted into TWRP recovery just to do a factory reset wipe (so that it would start fresh, with the initial setup / language selection)
10) Powered off phone, powered back on
11) ROM boots and I arrive at the language selection. Message "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped" appeared. Hit OK. It comes back within 2 seconds and this repeats.

I'm not sure what I did wrong. I'm going to power it down and use my back up phone for now because I'd really like to try this ROM. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Done! Flashed CandyKat 1.5.0 and PA GApps micro 4.4.3 20140608. Also flashed latest SuperSU coz stock superuser app isn't working with my titanium backup.

Haven't tried most of the features but it is very stable and works quite well. The Candy interface has most of the features I need so no need to install GravityBox (I came from stock 757) because I intend to use ART with this.

The only thing I need is how to tweak the kernel (uv, uc) for better battery life (haven't stress-tested the battery life of this ROM though)
Can anyone point me to the features of the kernel this ROM came with? Or can I flash PimpedKernel (which is CM based)?

The SU does work in this ROM go to dev settings to enable it has shown here..
e7e6ezet.jpg

Also tap the blank panel at the bottom to enable chamber of secrets
uvu9yjy8.jpg

Also the kernel is from slim got but they also using cm kernel. Pimped kernel also works with the ROM but that kernel can be unstable even with CM based ROM if set incorrectly has a lot of features in the pimped kernel aren't even ment for the Sony device that is making it unstable ATM..

Try using 4.4.3 gapps instead that's not a ROM related problem has gapps control that setup after flashing them with ROM. Try flashing again with 4.4.3 gapps and try keeping your sim in too :) lol

D'oh I forgot about that setting, I was spoiled by SuperSU :silly:

About the kernel, I'm gonna try the stock one without using trickster mod or any other kernel tweaking app. See how my battery fares. Thanks.

Yeah I use trickster too I normally under clock a little for more battery life. Never had any problems with this phone and battery through. Hope you enjoy your ROM thanks [emoji106]

UCed and UVed with Trickster Mod, so far so good. I had one boot loop when I UVed to -100 so I went back to -75..

I use 172800 most of time if not needing it for heavy usage or gaming. I don't set it too low though making it sluggish but 172800 working pretty well for me

Thanks tr1gg3r84, this worked. I wanted to use the gapps mentioned in the original post but the link seems to be down, so I went with the other gapps mentioned below it (the "slim gapps for blackout"). In case anyone else is having the same problem, I grabbed a minimal 4.4.3 gapps (6-2_GApps_Minimal_4.4.3_signed.zip) from this 4.4.3 PAC thread: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2764017

I also see that someone mentioned in this thread that Titanium Backup won't launch because it can't call su. I'm having the same problem. **edit.. I see in post 44 that we can enable root access for apps in the developer settings. Thanks again!

I did another wipe/install and tried the built-in su. Titanium backup was able to get su access, but when I try to uninstall system apps TB says it was uninstalled successfully but the application is still in the app drawer. I could even launch the said application (music, camera, etc.). Also restarted and cleared my cache/dalvik just in case. I flashed SuperSU and TB was able to uninstall the said system apps. Weird. And what is the chamber of secrets for?

I will look into that I don't use TB but I normally use Es file manager to uninstall system apps. It is strange never had any root problems with apps before but TB can be fussy at times I have noticed from people feed packs in the past. The chamber of secrets allows to add some switches that will directly trigger some rom hidden settings here a video. http://youtu.be/jWsY9wAq_9M

TB did say it's 'preferred' superuser app is SuperSU, though I'd like to think it would work with the built-in superuser app for candykat (without needing to flash SuperSU). It also said that issues may arise if I other superuser apps are used. So it might be just that.

You shouldn't need to install SuperSU probably the superusers are conflicting with each other. I don't use SuperSU with open source ROMs even though I have pro version. Try it again if you like without installing SuperSU it should be fine
