Nice work loving this! Any chance in future updates of making it do custom themes for apps like mms, email, lockscreens, market or anything like that or am i asking too much lol?
apps are different for AOSP and Sense roms, some are device specific. Kitchen tryes to stay as universal as possible.
Now it takes a lot of time to keep on track with different rom's versions. Including apps could be too much. But who knows, maybe someday...

I love this new kitchen, but i'd also like to see the CM7 theme preview bug get fixed. On the newer versions of CM7 (RC3 and above) the previews look slightly different in the theme chooser and themes cooked with the kitchen have a preview thats just a super thin line The themes are really hard to select this way.
correct if I'm wrong - theme, cooked in UOT have preview on CM7-RC3?
thats great, it means CM team made it work, because I did nothing :)

No I was saying it still does NOT work. In build #28 for my incredible the themes with no preview still showed a large black area and you could select the theme easily. In builds 28+ including RC3 the preview looks slightly different. And any theme without a working preview just shows as a thin line between the other themes and it is very hard to select.

Can you add on the patch files for the Darkyy Rom for Samsung Galaxy S and captivate? I would love to try this kitchen out but when I took the files from the zip package with the rom I ended up no longer having a boot partition, I guess I uploaded the wrong files. Thanks in advance!!

If you need a link to the Rom I'm using right now to be able to download it it's:http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=942046

It's on www.darkyrom.com as well.

Thanks again in advance!

sorry, but I dont know what to do with those *.pit files.

you can extract /system/framework/framework-res.apk and /system/app/SystemUI.apk (if found) directly from your phone.

If you're rom is not in the drop down list, you have to upload your files in the upload files tab. You upload framework-res.apk which is in your rom system/framework/framework-res.apk. If you are gingerbread you also have to upload systemui.apk.

This looks awesome, I tried to cook a file but getting a little confused here. I'm going to try making a theme apk for theme chooser, so do I just upload the framework-res.apk file, or I have to put systemUI.apk in also since I got a gingerbread rom.

To be brief, yes you have to upload the systemui.apk and the framework-res.apk as the kitchen told you.

Kitchen is not making theme, only modifing.
If you want theme - you have to upload theme's apk and kitchen will add to your theme all mods you want.
If you want to change your rom in general - you need to upload framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk. Kitchen will modify those files and will give you zip to flash in recovery.

I keep getting SHTF error.
UOT-03-30-01-59-2
ROM HyperDroid-GBX-v11-cLK
in framework-res.apk you have two bad files:
anim/priority_alert_enter.xml
anim/priority_alert_exit.xml

get those files from older rom's version (in there they are ok) and just replace with 7z. Open apk (do not unzip) and drag files into it.

after that - press thanks button.

mendozinas,

I have a Dell Streak and I have used UOT many times before. Now I am running build 345 which is Froyo 2.2.2. I deodexed my phone and now I can't complete a boot.

I get stuck in a boot loop. It gets to the lock screen and then bootanimation starts again and again, forever.

I have tried both scripts, no errors, no luck with either. Any suggestions?

UOT-03-30-05-45-1

and old scripting:

UOT-03-30-05-26-1

I love the kitchen. I need to use it or I will hate my phone, haha

oh yeah, I am using Streakmod recovery which is based on CM recovery 2 point something. Older than 3. Thanks in advance.

Just a side note. It would be really cool if you (or someone, maybe me if I figure how) made an app we could use from our phones to do the upload and option selections and download to the phone. That way there can be a pay app ;) or one with ads galore so you can earn the proper dollars and cents. I will look into it.

Hi Guys,

I just cooked my first theme (UOT-03-30-07-49-1). After I flashed it I saw my new bootanimation, then it went to the screen where I enter my PIN but after entering my PIN I just got Force Close messages on everything. Just one Force Close after another. Eventually I had to Reboot into recovery and restore my nandroid backup.
Did I do something wrong?
I am running Oxygen 2.0.2

I've tried so many times to mod my framework-res.apk for my X8 (using custom ROM 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.15) but it always stuck after boot animation (I didn't mod my boot animation).
Can u help me what's wrong with that framework? and what should I do to mod it with UOT? Thnx.

No, to make a theme.apk, you must upload an existing theme.apk

To make a flashable framework, you must upload a framework.

Basically you get out what you put in

    How kitchen works

Kitchen originally was build for HTC Desire, but now it supports most devices with Android OS.
Kitchen takes files from your rom and adds modifications you choose.
It works for most custom deodexed roms: Froyo (2.2) and Gingerbead (2.3).
You can use kitchen with stock odexed roms (if you have .odex files in your rom - kitchen works for you too)

    How to use kitchen

    1. Go to Kitchen page http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/

    2. Browse through available mods and choose what you need (don't forget to press Generate preview if theris such button)

    3. Go to File upload section and upload your files or choose rom from kitchen's list (most roms in the list is for HTC Desire)

    Files needed to upload:
    Froyo rom: framework-res.apk
    Gingerbread rom: framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
Gingerbread with sense rom: framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk and com.htc.resources.apk
Cyanogenmod7 rom: Cyanbread.apk or Androidian.apk or any theme for ThemeChooser (rename as you like it to apear in theme menu)

NOTE 1: if you uploading theme apk - do not upload any other files (you just waisting trafic, because kitchen will ignore additional files)

NOTE 2: Font packs and Bootanimation do not requires uploading files.

    4. Go to Summary section. All choosed mod must be in green background. If there is mod in red background - it means you did not finished it.

    press Submit work to kitchen

    5. Remember UOT file name. You can wait for a kitchen to cook your request, but after 5min waiting will be stopped (nothing to worry about).

    6. Go to Pickup page http://uot.dakra.lt/pickup/ and wait for your file to appear (it can take up to 30min or more)

    7. Download UOT zip into SD card of your phone

    8. Reboot into recovery

    9. Wipe cache and dalvik-cache (just in case). Do not make factory reset.

    10. Flash UOT zip

    11. Reboot phone

    How get files for kitchen

    Check your How-to page

What to do of the UOT-......... ZIP file

    1. Reboot into recovery.
    2. choose "install zip from sdcard"
    3. choose "choose zip from sdcard"
    4. locate your file UOT-... .zip in SD
    5. confirm "YES - install UOT ... .zip"
    6. wait for script to finish
    7. reboot phone

If you cooked file for ThemeChooser - you can unzip UOT and install apk as regular one. After that - select new theme in Theme Chooser and reboot phone.

WARNING! Flash UOT file after you have first boot.
If you flashed new rom, boot up your phone first time
and after that reboot into recovery to flash UOT file.

What to do if you get SHTF error

Kitchen uses inteligent approach to your files and tryes to fix most of errors, but sometimes apk tools fails to recompile your files and kitchen can't do nothing.
If you get SHTF error and want to ask for help in forum - please, mention UOT file name and ROM or Theme you are using. Also, telling your device will be very helpfull.

If you using popular ROM/Theme - you can try to cook our corrected framework-res.apk from the list.

    Disclaimer
    • It took a lot of effort and time from us to make this kitchen and it takes a lot more to maintain it .Users should realise this and appreciate the work done.
    • Bugs and errors (except decompiling error) will be tried to solve but we need the code you receive back when you upload your file. backups of the same will be kept for 12 hours. so if you have an error respond within that time
    • We are not responsible for any damage that occurs to your device by the use of the themes created here though if such an unfortunate event occurs do tell us we'll be happy to help
    • There is a lot more to come in the near future like changing the status bar, icons, notification screen, the popups etc etc.
    • Suggestions are welcomed for future releases.

So iwent through the whole process and uploaded the cyanbread theme apk. from theme chooser, it completed the upload but when I go to "pick-up" section how do I identify which file is mine?

the "file upload" sevction did give a UOT-xx-xx-xx-x to identify exactly which file is the one I created..

    Thanks
u must submit work in "Summary" section - after that you will get UOT name.
    17
It might have been a bug but it was a welcomed one! Please bring it back!
Seriously, is there any way to implement it? The known method (editing notification_config.txt) doesn't solve the problem, it creates an empty space (see attachment). I'm sure I'm not the only one who would use it.
    TIA.
this can be hard to complete.
removing this mod can cause FC's as system still tryes to use it.
will see what can be done.
