Can someone help me out a bit, I have a Three locked phone, I have already got it sim unlocked but would like to change to the official HTC rom. What is the best way of doing it and also allow for OTA updates for future releases?
Wouldn't you need to root the phone to flash the htc official RUU onto the phone?
Then de-root the phone to allow for OTA updates?

Not as of yet I believe
ok this is kinda getting a bit confusing for me now...tried looking and could not find anything..RUU is that like the modem? HBOOT is that kernel? sorry still trying to learn here...feel like a complete noobie now..apologies..first time HTC owner you see and it feels like a jungle to me..were s2 i can root the damn thing with my eyes shut
Just checked boot and it remains the same, 0.94.000
Mine did the same mate, issue for me was I had it on charge, so I removed the USB and restarted it, all a-ok now.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app

Yes, please remove USB Cable or Charger.
this has been reported causing issues!
I agree, this thread is throwing up so many inconsistent info, I'm getting confused myself.
What I would like to know is if I root my phone, and use CWM Recovery, will the OTA's not work?
I don't understand why not but I saw it mentioned somewhere in this thread.
So if I wanted to use the standard OTA (provided T-Mobile release it soon) do I have to un-root and relock my phone again?
ok cool, so I could change to this rom but the OTA will not work unless the CID is changed?..... May just wait a while longer and see if there is progress with the s-off method.... fingers crossed.
Been using other non htc phones for a while so catching up with what to do and how to do it.
I still get confused
didn't even know it was Wednesday today (It is Wednesday right? - Uk atleast)
RUU is the stock software package that is used on HTC Phones, different regions use different RUU's. As do different phones, Motorola use an SBF for example.
HBOOT is like the BIOS for the phone, it's the bootloader, it tells the phone what to do when you press the power button, like when you set a PC bios to run from a CD or HDD when you start it up.

Htc should spend more time trying minimize issues, in that respect you've got to give to apple for their efforts. HTC should launch fewer handsets and take more pride in their products. Invest more in quality control, Having said that I still prefer htc one x over any other mobile currently in the market.
Last year was a bad year for htc but they have turned it around with one x. Now they just need to improve their marketing and advertising. Take a leaf out of samung s book, see their ads makes you want to go out and purchase a Note.
