Sorry for a blatantly noob question (& yes I did attempt searching):
If I wish to block all calls to/from a specific site (say, amazonaws.com for example), how do I go about it? Is there a way to blacklist any calls using a wildcard symbol before the sitename (such as *.amazonaws.com)?

Sorry to ask....I really wish there was a "for dummies" basic instruction manual for us noobs. I checked Adaway's website & Git, but no basic instructions on adding site blocking.

.

AdAway creates/updates a standard host file, which will be used by the standard function of the network libraries. The hostfile contains pairs of one ipaddress and one or more hostnames, e.g. [code[127.0.0.1 localhost myhost.localdomain phone47[/code]
Wildchars (jokers) are not supported. So you must code each hostname individually...

The Adaway Wiki is linked in post 1 near the bottom, Here is the section you want to read and use.

It is still working well, as long as adds are loaded using urls containing dnsnames, not ipaddresses. AdAware does it job maintaining the host file. Another benefit is its internal webserver which will help you to avoid timeouts cause of blocked requests...
The only thing which could be a little bit outdated is the scanning engine for malware...

P.s. I'm more than 60 years old and still working well...

^ nope, blacklisting graph.facebook.com creates problems in apps, e.g. tapatalk, and in facebook communications

I'm Seeing Ads In All Places.

( I Know This App Is(/Was, At Least) Perfect When I Used It For Nearly 2 Years On My Lenovo Phone.
Never Seen An Ad When It Was Running.)

But Now On My One M7, There Seems To Be Some Issue And Idk What It Is. Probably With My Stock ROM And The S-ON.

In The FAQ, It Was Written That It'd Work After Creation Of A Sysmlink. I've Done That, And The Hosts File Gets Updated And Shows Running File With The Green ✅ Sign.

Rooted HTC One M7 - Stock ROM ( Sysmlink Created )

Worked fine untill now. Ads started appearing everywhere, in apps, in chrome, data saver is off. I have los 15 (oreo) rooted with magisk (systemless hosts activated). Every now and then adaway deactivates itself, does no longer work blocking ads. What can i do?
