Anyone want to try out a preliminary version of mVu Mobile Viewer that works on newer smartphones (such as
iPhone and
android)?
Check out
http://mvu-mobile-viewer.appspot.com from your smartphone. (It will also work from IE or Chrome, but that's not the point of this).
Remember this is a very early version that is not fully functional and does not have all of the same abilities as mVu Mobile Viewer Windows Mobile App. There is no playlist functionality, and only a few sites are implemented. If you want to download videos (at least on iPhone) you'll have to use a Download Manager app. Not sure about android.
I have used this successfully on an iPod Touch. It should work on iPhones. I expect it will work on android, but I have not tested that as I do not have an android device. It should also work on Windows Phone 7, but I haven't tested that either. It does not work properly on older Windows Mobile devices.
Note, not all video formats are supported on iPhone/iPod Touch. Not sure what formats work on android.
You can use the Add to Home Page feature on iPhone/iPod Touch to add an mVu icon to this as a fullscreen web app.
Let me know what you think.
