Hmmm. It's hung up on

'waiting on device...'

hit 'root' while in recovery mode.

I finished reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765496

Technically the device is rooted, but it's not permanent. The /system is protected. It seems you would need to modify the bootloader for that. In the meantime, you can use unrevoked. http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/

I'll investigate later, but right now, sleep.

Found SQLite Editor after changing the build.prop. duh, me.

anyway, SQLite is giving me an error when I try to change the non market apps value from 0 to 1.

Quote:

Update failed-unable to open database file: BEGIN EXCLUSIVE;

did the one click corrupt the database, like when it opens as a text file?

EDIT: Nevermind, successfully allowed non market apps through adb shell. don't know why one click and sqlite editor were giving me errors.

Droid here. Runs through, says that I'm now rooted. Superuser shows up. I installed Clockwork Rom Manager. Reboot into recovery, Superuser asks for permission w/ clockwork and I allow.

However, my recovery boot is the same pre-root. That is, I don't have the nandroid backup option. I test root access in terminal emulater, typing su and Superuser grants permission. So I think I'm really rooted...ideas?

Here's a one-click root that works with Froyo on our Captivates. It's not just the Captivate. It works with almost all phones and all android versions. (including the i9000, Droid, Nexus One)

It's Windows only at the moment (and you need .NET Framework 2.0+) but I'll port it to mac/linux later on (if you guys are that interested).
