Hi Michael

Thanks for your reply,
When dragging a map around & get to a map end the next one doesn't auto load. Sorry I hadn't realised it does whilst navigating - great

Quilting (I think is the correct term) would be a great option to auto open larger scale maps as you zoom in, quicker to operate but would need to be a switchable option as it's not always desired.

Thanks

Sean

Great app... thanks so much.

However, I have a problem...

I upgraded to froyo (Samsung Galaxy S, unbranded UK) and the name of my external sd card has been changed - MM tracker now cant see the invalid path (obviously) but there is no way to browse to the correct path. I have the paid version.

path was originally:
/sdcard/sd/MM_maps/

And following froyo update:
/sdcard/external_sd/MM_maps/

All I get when I try to set path in settings is a line
/sdcard/sd/MM_maps/
Which I cannot click on. Some kind of reset should do it? Any config to edit?

Also on another issue, prior to upgrading, I tried to "back up" the app using Astro - however mm tracker was the only app without a checkbox (said private). Any reason for this?

good finding
I also discovered this bug and fixed it for the next (not yet released) version.
You can solve it for now by erasing your user-config with Android Settings->Applications.
This will reset all your setting for MM Tracker including the pathes.

Sorry regarding this issue i have no information. Is it maybe because of the Android Market copy protection ? No clue....

Hi,

I recently created a spinoff from 'MM Tracker' which is called 'MM Tracker 16'.
This version is able to run under Android 1.6 as many user requested this.

But as the API of 1.6 does not support all fetaures of 2.1 i had to sacrifice the
usage of volume buttons for zooming feature.
The free version of MM Tracker is now Android 1.6 compatible too.

Furthermore i could only test with the SDK emulator that 'MM Tracker 16'
does run properly under 1.6 environment.

So if someone runs 'MM Tracker FREE' or 'MM Tracker 16' on an Android 1.6
device, feedback would be very much appreciated.

Thank you and best regards,
Michael

Excellent app, working nicely on a HTC Desire and ZTE Blade, bought the paid version as soon as I'd tested the free one, good to be able to access my memory maps again, that was one of the things I missed when I gave up on windows mobile. Recorded a good, accurate track of my drive to work, overlaid on the OS 1:50 000 map.

Don't know if its possible but a landscape format option would be nice in the future, plus an option to hide the on screen zoom buttons (the minus/zoom out button looks a bit like an aerodrome when its loaded with CAA aviation charts!) and just use the volume controls for this would be good.

Not had the opportunity to take it flying yet but I'll be interested to see how it performs.

Hi ghorne,

hope you don't try to land on the minus-button

I will add the option to hide the zoom buttons whith one of the next releases.
As the settings dialog is a little bit crowded by this time it needs a freshup anyhow.

Landscape would be a nice option too. I was thinking about it some time ago,
but somehow forgot about it... i will put it on the feature list.

Thanks for your suggestions and feedback
Regards, Michael

Huzzah! I will be going Android in a few months (when my HD2 contract expires), so this is great news. Does anyone know a good Android build, for the HD2, that will play nice with MM Tracker? I wanna give this a shot.

My MM_T Wishlist (in order of priority);
  • Download of routes/marks/tracks
  • Metric units and British National Grid
  • Navigate to waypoint/mark
  • Create marks
  • Compass
  • Night colours
  • Elevation profiles

Just seen the changelog at http://mitglied.multimania.de/mmtracker/ ,this is just getting better and better!

Hi gadgetuk437,

got some remarks to your list:
  • Download of routes/marks/tracks -> Download from where ? Currently GPX import of tracks/routes/marks is possible
  • Metric units and British National Grid -> errr.. metric units ? Should be already implemented. OS grid is planned
  • Navigate to waypoint/mark -> alread implemented in latest version
  • Create marks -> currently implementing this
  • Compass -> Put on list ...
  • Night colours -> ... this too
  • Elevation profiles -> already (at the end) of the list. As this needs some QED-file reverse engineering

Please have a look at the new page:
https://sites.google.com/site/mmtrackerinfo/ which has the benefit of not having so much ads and is more up to date. (the old one will be discontinued)

Michael,

My own preferences within your upgrade list would be (in order):

* Ability to switch to landscape mode
* Display a compass
* Pinch Zoom
* Implement search-function basing on MMI files
* Improve the track/routes data view

I would also like the direction arrow replaced by a single line, visible on all scales of view, as per the MemoryMap Windows Mobile operation. The blue arrow is very difficult to see, and only displays (at least on the Samsung Galaxy S) on large scale. imho direction of travel is one of the most important features to assist in not getting lost!

With thanks,

FT

Hi Frank,

i think you pointed out some important features. Actually landscape mode will
be part of one of the next releases. Currently i am working on overlay management
and will release this hopefully this week.
In the following release i will focus on the MMI search function and maybe
portrait mode and improved data view will be part of it.

If you have problems with the directional arrow maybe you did miss the option
'Show speed vector' ? This option allows you to define the speed vector length
by defining the time it should estimate your future position. For a normal walking
speed this should be set to at least 1 minute.

I added the option for an infinite length arrow to the todo list.

Michael
