I tried to flash my Sony Xperia X, with Flastools. This hapenned:

You should try asking in the Xperia X section, as I see a different file (oem.sin) here, which AFAIK, is not present in XS.

After searching through the net, I sorted out my problem of
ERROR - null
ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted

The following worked for me.
Downgraded my Flashtool to version 0.9.18.6 and flashed the same ftf. It worked. (Strangely v0.9.18.6 is treated as malware by Avast; I had to stop Avast)

I guess your error is due to bad ftf. Try another ftf file or may be SETool2 may help.
Make sure you have done Boot Unlocking of your phone and no other applications (like PC companion, MobileGo, etc) are accessing your phone while using Flashtool.

Go back to 0.9.18.6 worked for me
If not then the ftf file you are using is probably damaged

I faced a similar issue with a z3c model, and a Linux machine. Although this does not directly relate to this thread's situation I post a fix that worked for me :
* Downgrading Flashtool did not work (it seems that 0.9.18.6 does not recognize z3c).
* updating the udev rules did, however, fix it. (see the Faq section on flashtool webpage):

I'm having the exact same problem, I tried on old and new versions of FlashTool, different ROMs, etc.
