Thank you very very very very very very very much aki0306. But may I please ask if it is for dual sim or single sim version ? I bought this phone from Dubai (so probably asian version) with dual sim capability and soft bricked it when trying to root it. The phone is only 3 days old and I bought it while I was holidaying in Dubai. Now I am in NZ and cant go back to ask for the repair and so dependent on the people like you who provide the RUU for that dual sim phone. Any help would be much appreciated.

But unfortunately i've tried both the links & once download is completed i cannot open the zip file...

Anyone managed to download it correctly?

I couldnt download it completely either. It has downloaded upto 0.98 MB and then showed up as a complete zip file but when trying to open or extract, it is throwing up an error :(

is it possible to flash it on dual sim version?

i really wanted to try the sense 6 version
unfortunately the dual sim version haven't get the update

so is it possible that i can flash it on my dual sim version

You probably can install sense 6 toolbox alone that is available from XDA where.

Guys does any one knows if i unlock my BL itll remove some apps like flash light and calculatore etc...
Cuz when i had the htc one m7 and i unlocked its BL it removes some preinstalled apps
So im afraid if i unlock my BL some apps will be removed and there is no rom at this moment.
Mine htc d816w with cid j_15
Build number is 1.32.401.1 (latesr frimware available)
Can any one help me.

mine is single sim taiwan version.
this RUU cant flash to my device.
RUU check to CID, MID, ROM version and HBOOT version.
if dont match cant flash.

Hi, Being new to HTC I'm not familiar using hboot. What are the steps to flash this RUU? Do i use abd? what are the commands? Since I rooted my phone I lost some apps and other install and don't show in app drawer I would like to return to stock. Mine should be Asian version w single sim. This is all I know about phone.

    Tutorial for flashing stock RUU's on HTC Desire 816

    Please note that I have not flashed this RUU on my dual sim mobile and not sure if the following method works perfectly like it was described. But I am confident that it works as it worked for other HTC devices. So risk on you and dont blame me if something goes wrong following the below process.

    Note: For those with security feature S-ON (you can check while you are on fastboot mode) and not European single sim version, dont flash the RUU given in the first post as it doesnt work. However, the below process works for the right RUU and with the right device.

    The RUU flashing process involves 3 major steps.

    1. Downloading the necessary files
    2. Relocking the bootloader that is unlocked - as without it you cannot flash any stock RUU's. HTC made it that way.
    3. Flashing RUU


    I. Before You Begin

    1. You should’ve rooted your device

    2. This RUU flashes the stock firmware on your device.

    3. This procedure should only work on Windows based PCs.

    4. You should’ve appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you haven’t, you can download the latest drivers from here.

    5. This process will remove your root, custom recovery and almost all files on your internal sd card, so backing up your internal sd-card is recommended.


    II. Downloading Required Files

    1. Download Fastboot and save it to your desktop.

    Fastboot

    2. Download Stock RUU.zip and save it to your desktop - Download link is available in the first post

    III. Relocking the Bootloader on the HTC Desire 816

    1. Extract files from Fastboot to your desktop by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract here. You can put them anywhere, but I prefere to put in C:/

    2. Enable USB debugging on your device by heading to Menu > Settings > Developer options > USB debugging.

    3. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

    4. Launch a Command Prompt Window on your desktop. To do that, simply hold down Shift and right-click on any blank area on your screen and select Open command window here.

    5. Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window:

    adb reboot fastboot

    6. Your device should reboot into fastboot mode.

    7. Type in the following command:

    fastboot oem lock

    8. It should relock the bootloader on your device.

    9. You’re done!

    Great! Your first step towards unrooting your device is now complete. Your HTC Desire 816′s bootloader is now relocked and you can flash the stock firmware on it.

    IV. Flashing the RUU for HTC Desire 816

    1. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

    2. Enable USB debugging on your device by going to Menu > Settings > Developer options > USB debugging.

    3. Open a Command Prompt Window on your desktop. To do so, simply hold down Shift and right-click on any blank area on your screen and select Open command window here.

    4. Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window:

    adb reboot fastboot

    5. Your device should reboot into fastboot mode.

    6. Now type the following command. Make sure to replace filename.zip with the actual name of the Stock RUU.zip (which starts with 09CIMG......zip) file you downloaded earlier.

    fastboot flash zip filename.zip

    The easiest way to select the right file name is to type "fastboot flash zip 09" and press the tab key on your computer. That will type that long zip file name for you in the command prompt.

    7. It should start flashing the stock firmware on your device.

    8. When it’s done, reboot your device.

    9. You’re all done!


    Hit the thanks button that is below this post while your phone is rebooting with the stock firmware.
