Of course you can always get through adb and tar and untar your data partition manually.

As for video playback, all acceleration should be turned off so it should not show any artifacts.

hope you will work on the video h/w acceleration feature, or is this an impossible job as long as the gingerbread f/w is not released by SAmsung?

The fact you're asking about this suggests to me that you know it won't work. If you know your bootloader is signed you must know about the implications of this. Of course this firmware won't work with signed bootloaders, you need to fix it. There is a fix for this in the stickies

external sdcard is /mnt/sdcard like in any other Android device.
embedded mmc is /mnt/emmc

Most Android programs and people expect /mnt/sdcard to be removable SD card.

Decided to take the plunge and flash thus beast but I'm struck with a few issues

If I choose a pit, Heimdall will grey out the start button
I'm getting an 'error at line -12' message when I try to flash.
Any ideas?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see someone had posted the exact same error
Updated the drivers as the readme said but I'm still getting the same error. Ideas?

Isn't Heimdall a command line tool? What "Start" are we talking about. BTW: the zip contains ./flashme.sh to call Heimdall ...

Sorry! I did not realize there are Windoze version of Heimdall
