Yesterday I installed the franco kernel on my N10. And it doubled my Wifi internet speed! Just wow!
Will it do the same on my N4 if I install the Franco kernel on there?

And what does it do with bettery life? Increased or decreased?

Thanks in advance!

Battery life is the best with franco kernel on Nex10. Too bad for me, it does not support 3G modem.

Here is the proof (from Franco´s Google+)

It seems that battery life with Franco is worse than the stock kernel for me overnight it drained around 10 -15 % while being in Ariplane modus.

How can I revert back to stock kernel ?

Pull the stock kernel image. But this kernel definitely has better idle than stock.

Yeah I heard that it has better stock idle values.

But why does it drains my battery much faster overnight when on ariplane mode than stock kernel.
And it's just a fresh install of Android so no apps installed.

I don't know how much it might help you guys, but I have a thread in my sig the Franco kernel & FKU Learner Lounge which is a thread I originally put together for nexus 5 users to chat about franco kernel / app related stuff and a place some beginner users could use as a friendly place to ask questions so to keep the main dev threads clean and easy to follow and not miss important information in many spam posts.

You guys are welcome to join or point any inexperienced members that way if you feel their content isn't relevant in a dev thread. There's a few device specific things to do with nexus 5 in there but I'd like to open this thread to all the nexus devices Franco supports. Not owning all these devices means if any of you have any suggestions for things I could add to be specific your devices I'm all ears and plan to have a small section for each device for any repetitive questions for a particular device. This is a copy paste post across all Franco nexus threads.

Just curious, is an update to this kernel to allow it to work with Android 4.4 in the works for the Nexus 10? Thanks!

I know it doesn't work with 4.4. Please re-read my post again. I simply asked if an update to the kernel to bring to 4.4 is in the works.

Yes, Franco has said he will still support the 10. He's been really busy with the other Nexus devices. The 10 will most likely be the last to receive a kernel.

And that explains why my device won't go past the Google boot screen!!! (Expletive!!!)
I just got my N10 and since I'm using the kernel on my N5 I assumed it would work on this!!!

How do I get the stock one back? I made a backup of the stock one using his app but I'm unable to locate/flash it from TWRP. What do I have to do?

TIA.

You'll need to use fastboot to get back to stock. Just flash the stock img in fastboot and you'll be fine.

Hey all. I hate bloated OP's so this is a simple one. I don't post changelogs in here, only when I released new versions so you'll have to search for it.

Just for general awareness this is compatible with CyanogenMod based roms.

    Download:
    4.4

    How to flash:
    fastboot flash boot image_name
    or
flash the zip in your custom recovery

    F.A.Q.
    1. My tablet exploded, halp!
A: I don't answer to problems without a log. The log file is in /proc/last_kmsg. Retrieve it from your device and attach it to your post.
    2. This kernel works on Y or X rom?
A: This is one of the worse questions you can ask on my threads. This is a Nexus, it works on every rom you can possibly imagine.
    3. OMG BETTARY SUCKZ, IT DEAD IN 45 MINUTAS, HALP!
A: As you can imagine I don't build kernels to decrease battery life. All the battery life problems come from your apps, either Facebook, or Maps, or some Location Service being enabled etc etc. Check your damn wakelocks and fix them, the kernel is not responsible for them.
    4. How do I flash this?
A: Reading the OP, theres a reason why I added instructions on it.

Hey guys. I've been doing a lot of idle tests because I've tweaked the power states latency on this device and I've got great results, so here is r8. Contains that lower latency which means it will enter and leave the C power states much faster which will probably achieve a good battery boost. Also contains a few tweaks to the memory bus frequencies adding a little bit of throughput when needed and some patches from upstream. I still haven't got time to look into to some Color Control on this display, I'll try to look at it further during the weekend, work has been hectic.

4.2.2 kernel source are out, later when Im off work I'll release a kernel compatible and a few other changes I have in mind - I was waiting for 4.2.2 ro update this kernel.
    32
    r13
    * Compatible with 4.3
    * Compatible with CyanogenMod and its derivates
    * Added ROW I/O and made default
    * Lots of I/O patches from upstream
    * Updated interactive governor to its last version from Android's gerrit
    * Updated CPUidle subsystem so that the device spends more time at the deepest states for better power consumption
    * Merged patches from Colin Cross to decrease power consumption
    * Updated the Wi-Fi driver to its latest version from Android's gerrit
    * Merged USB Audio changes from CyanogenMod to enable the usage of USB DAC's plugged to this device
    * Partitions properly mounted for increased I/O performance
    * Removed lots of debug from the Kernel
    * Disabled memory throttling if the device hits thermal throttling point

I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, lots of food, kisses, hugs, and quality time.

Thanks for sticking with FK even though this is not one of my priorities Kernel wise, although I promise to be more active like I did with the latest two releases. Very happy with r15 - but more improvements are coming.
