What does that even mean? lol
You specifically have to say "OK Google now" to turn on active listening.
When do you say anything even close? "Hello mooing cow!"

They said the same thing about the kinect...Mine still sometimes hears things that I guess sound close to XBOX PAUSE.

By active listening I mean actually awakening the phone and deciphering your speech into text and acting upon it.

The same is true of Google Now, though (at least if you're not using a secure lockscreen). The interesting bit for me was really the voice interaction.

I was just curious. Who said the Snapdragon 800 would not be much better than the 600?

People who said only hardcore gamers would see any real world difference.
This is not just a numerical increase. It's a whole new ability that can apply to all types of users - except paranoid ones.

Basically....
If your afraid that the government or whoever will use this to listen to you, this new feature doesn't change anything. Right now (on any phone), they would just as easily be able to flip on the mic and listen. It's just an extra line of code or any extra command.

Steps to listen to convo for Moto X (or phones w/ similar features)
1) install malware or use unknown backdoor
2) listen

Steps to listen to convo for other phone
1) install malware or use unknown backdoor
2) turn mic on
3) listen
