After many hours work I've managed to get a rooted Kitkat on my phone.
I'm using an international D802 16GB version of the phone .
I live in Belgium and i used the german vodafone firmware to get all work done , but I suppose this firmware will work fine in other countries too ?
Everything is working fine , and I have a rooted Kitkat rom (vodafone).

NO touch screen issues here !
Xposed NOT working , because xposed needs to update for the official KK roms
----------------
If you updated to Kitkat , then follow all steps.
If you are on a rooted JB , you can start at step 4

1 : Flash the JB firmware from vodafone http://lg-phone-firmware.com/tool.php?idclick=8809 to get back to JB rom (needed to get root and recovery)
If you have NO SIM icon , just proceed with the steps , you will get your sim connection back on the KK rom
It seems to be confirmed that you can start with ANY rom as far as you have custom recovery installed , so start with a 4.2 rom is good to go !

2 : Install root with ioroot22 : http://bit.ly/1nQXY0U

3 : Install recovery (I always use TWRP 2.6.3.3) with this nice tool (you can choose phone version and then choose between TWRP or CWM recovery versions)
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2633941

4 : Download and copy the following zip to your phone storage (sdcard)

16GB version : D802KK16GB

32GB version : D802KK32GB

5 : Download http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip and copy it to your phone storage (sdcard)

6 : Reboot to recovery

7 : Wipe Dalvik cache , System , Data and cache -- Very important step !

8 : Install D802KK....zip you downloaded in step 4

9 : Wipe Data again

10 : Install UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip

11 : Reboot

Now you have a rooted Kitkat Stock rom (Vodafone Germany) , enjoy it !!!

Unless you still have a custom recovery, this is easily achievable by rooting a stock jellybean rom then taking an ota update to kitkat whilst keeping root via a setting in the superSU app. It is a working custom recovery which cannot be achieved so far and also the ability to root a stock kitkat rom.
I am assuming that you don't have a custom recovery on your rom of course??

You're right, but many of us haven't recieved the OTA update yet. The hell, I've never actually got any OTA update, so this is the only method to have a rooted KitKat for me. And probably for others, too.

Of course, custom recovery will be gone.

As we all know you will have NO recovery , but it will be ROOTED !

And about the OTA , mine was not working , and for the people who still have to wait for their update it could be a nice solution .

BTW : I'm very happy with the kitkat update , because my phone is working much faster and smoother then on JB
And at this moment I only need root and no recovery. I needed the root to use some nice apps in example to remove bloat ;)

Yes, for me it is! Thanks OP, had flashed many other rooted kitkat roms, but this is the first one that works without the touch screen bug.

16gb. I now have restored all my apps and settings and not had a single error. Performance is great, some things feel more responsive than 4.2.2.

OK guys I successfully managed to get kk rooted on my d802 after having problem with it the entire evening last night. Here is the steps you should do

Step 1: Get on a JB rom.
1 : Flash the JB firmware from vodafone http://lg-phone-firmware.com/tool.php?idclick=8809 to get back to JB rom (needed to get root and recovery)
Use FlashTool (Download from here : http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 Follow the instructions given in that thread

    2) Download LG mobile support tool and Install it. (It will open up when its done just CLOSE IT OFF)
    LG Mobile Support Tool Download

    3) Download / Install FlashTool (R&D Test Tool) & Drivers
    Download Here

    4) Power off your G2, press Volume Up & and then plug in the usb cable (enter to a download mode)

    5) Extract FlashTool and run UpTestEX.exe

    6) In R&D Test Tool window,
Select Type = 3GQCT (top left hand side)
PhoneMode = DIAG (top right hand side)
Select kdz file = click to select your LG stock rom *.kdz
Click "Normal web upgrade test" (bottom right hand side)
Then another window will pop up, click "Upgrade Start" button
wait a few seconds, another window "Select Country & Language" pop up,
    => Country=Republic of Korea
    => Language=English
you can click ok to proceed

    7) All Done and wait for finish!

    8) Be Sure that after flashing to perform a reset as for some reason flashing this does not remove what was there before until you reset. By turning off, Holding down power and Vol Down until it comes up on the screen.
    )

Now you should have a clean stock rom on jelly bean

Step 2: Root that rom via ioroot as given in the first post:
. Make sure your USB debugging is ON (turn it on in the developers option by tapping the software version 7 times in the About phone menu). Make sure your connection mode is set to charge only. Double click on the root.bat file to root. Took me a few times before the ioroot tool detected my phone too. Now your jb 4.2.2 should be rooted.

Step 3: THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART. Install CWM instead of TWRP. Download CWM from http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2468858 and follow the instructions there! I used OFFICIAL TOUCH - for D802 CWM Recovery.
    INSTALLATION (Recommended)
    1) Make a folder for the CWM Recovery.
    2) Extract the contents of the file you downloaded earlier to the folder you just created.
    3) Ensure the you have Developer Options enabled.
    4) If you already have Debugging Mode enabled turn it off, then back on.
    5) Connect your phone and ensure that the RSA Fingerprint message appears, and that you accept.
NOTE: THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP! If you do not get this message and try to continue, you will not be able to install CWM recovery!
    6) Open the CWM Recovery folder and double-click the file ends in "...recovery.bat".
    7) A command prompt will appear and will go through a process flashing recovery to your phone.
    8) Wait a minute and the process should conclude. Press any key to make the prompt disappear.
    9) This will cause your phone to reboot into the CWM Recovery!

SPECIAL NOTE: The RSA Fingerprint message can be hard to get at times. After I rooted, it was extremely difficult to make appear. If it helps anyone, I would connect my phone to to the PC, run "...recovery.bat". The command prompt would state it was starting the daemon and then would go no further. If I checked my phone (before disconnecting from the PC) the RSA Fingerprint message would be displayed. If you have checked to always allow your computer, then you will not get the RSA Fingerprint message, but the procedure should still work. This is also true of the official CWM recovery installation.

This is important because I have failed to obtain a rooted KK multiple times (Frustrating) even after following the instruction to flash su BECAUSE TWRP WAS UNABLE TO MOUNT SYSTEM. I tried manually mount system but it just tell me E:/ unable to mount system. CWM allows the system to mount.

Step 4: Wipe data and flash the correct kk rom (16 or 32gb). I wiped data again after that to ensure clean installation.

Step 5: MOUNT THE SYSTEM (or check that the system is mounted)

    Step 6: Flash the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip

Step 7: Reboot and you should have a rooted KitKat!

Enjoy! Took me around 5 hours to achieved this rom!

I will flash once home but is it possible to get lg stock boot animation not the vodafone one ? thks

    Yes indeed.

    1. Get Root Explorer (Or any other File Manager with root capabilities)

    2. In root explorer go to /system/media/ - Here you'll find 4 "bootanimation.zip" files and 4 "shutdownanimation.zip" files. One of those should read "bootanimation_lg.zip" and "shutdownanimation_lg.zip"

    3. Copy both files - "bootanimation_lg.zip" and "shutdownanimation_lg.zip".

    4. Go to /cust/ - Here are 2 folders. One named poweron and one poweroff.

    5. Paste "bootanimation_lg.zip" in /cust/poweron/
    6. Paste "shutdownanimation_lg.zip" in /cust/poweroff/

    7. rename "bootanimation.zip" in /cust/poweron/ to something like "bootanimation.zip.backup"
    8. rename "shutdownanimation.zip" in /cust/poweroff to something like "shutdownanimation.zip.backup"

    9. rename "bootanimation_lg.zip" in "bootanimation.zip"
    10. rename "shutdownanimation_lg.zip" in "shutdownanimation.zip"

    11. Reboot and enjoy. :good:

I don't remember who was writing that QuickRemote and QuickTranslater were not working, but I do confirm they're both working fine.

That was me. I guess the issue lies within my config then. :)

Great job bro. Now waiting for 32gb confirmation.

    Remove the vodafone boot animation.

If anyone is interested in removing the vodafone boot animation.
Install root explorer. Go to root/cust folder and delete both the power off and power on folders.
Reboot the phone and you will get into original LG boot animations.
Hope this would be of some help to beginners like me who dont like the vodafone bloat.
