the best of: Total Commander
I think the world's best of file manager is the Total Commander.

My favourite features:
- available FTP plugin
- built-in text editor
- LAN access plugin for shared Windows folders
- WebDAV plugin for streaming media (divx movies, music) from example Windows through wifi

Please let me know if you got better than TCMD

I agree. This way, it's dificult to say what is the result, but I would say it is es file explorer...

The old Astro file manager (which i'm still using) has an inbuilt app manager support, ie when i click on any apk file, it provides an option to "open app manager" ... The advantage is tht, right frm there, i can know which version is currently installed... Latest Astro doesn't have tht option... Does any other file manager has tht option?

Either Root Explorer or Es file explorer would b my choice..but i would go wit Root explorer most of the time
