Hi
************** !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****************
If you need to change something, please let me know.
Also, if it seems OK please let me know. I will make a cab file.
************** !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****************

Hey Tom,

It works great on my device! Some things are still English and other things look weird because they don't really fit. I added some screenshots.

Is it possible to change some of these things or do we have to shorten some expressions?

THANKS,
derlbear

Edit: The screenshots say that version 0.2.35.1 is installed, but it should say 0.2.35.2
Edit2: There are some English expressions in the description. Is it possible to change that, too?

Edit 3: This could solve one problem (Search for nearby.jpg) because it's shorter.

Hi

MUI (Language file) is not part of GCz application level.
It is Windows Mobile (also Windows OS) level job.

So, you need to know your deveice locale.

So how do I determine the locale of my device (Sony Ericsson XPeria X1)? It's user interface is in german, but I don't see any way to determine that numerical value (0409) you wrote about.

After I wrote my last message, I installed the japanese cabinet file you have on your web site, after that, all menu entries were in english, but the button descriptions were in japanese. Maybe this bit of information helps you?

By the way, what should be the directory in "Skin" be called for the german images? I see that you have "COMMON", "ENG" and "JAP" for japanese, but neither "DE" nor "GER" worked for the german images.

1. Just overwrite the files in the ENG folder :) (pictures)
2. Try to rename your MUI file, as Gech said. Rename GCzII.exe.0407.mui to GCzII.exe.0409.mui and copy it into your GCzII folder.

I didn't have to rename anything on my HTC Touch Diamond2.

It's the GPS. Why don't you just close the application? It doesn't make any sense that GCzII should include a batterysaver option or something like that, because 99,9% of the users want to use it when it's on :)

Hi derlbear, hi Tom

I have sometimes the same problem. Possible solution: GCzII should make shure that the connecton to GPS ist down before closing.

Hi pingu-net

You maybe miss understanding.
GCz uses GPS but it does not mean control GPS hardware.
GCz just open/close COM port to read NMEA text string from driver that is only software wise.

thanks

tom

Hi Tom,
I think i didn't missunderstood you. What I meant was, to make shure that the com port will be closed (that there is no communication between GPS and (closed GCzII)). I can't imanging what else the reason could be:confused::)

Decimal GPS Cache Coordinates...

This is a very nice app. Made geocaching much more fun.

I do have a question though. Is there a way to display the Cache coordinates in Decimal format (42.59922 -83.1179) instead of this format: DDD MM.MMM (N 42° 35.953 W 083° 07.074)

Thanks,
Murli

Does anybody know if there is a possibility to set a waypoint as target of the blue dotted line in the static map view ?

From my point of view only the main coordinates linked to the cache listing are used as target. Hence waypoints of multi or puzzle caches can not be navigated to via this line !?

Hi Lord.Nibbler

Thank you for the transtation.

So, I checked the files and IMAGE_TEXT.png.txt and IMAGE_TEXT_2.png.txt are not in UTF-16.

Some of French charactors are broken and I can not recognized them.
Please save it in UTF16 and post is again.

thanks

tom

Ooops, sorry ... I attached them again

Cheers,
Nibbler.

Hi,

i just tried the GPX-Export... html-tags are still there on Garmin Oregon and there is another problem:
I downloaded 180 Caches to a Cachelist and all of them are shown in GCzII. But when i export them to gpx my Oregon only shows me abou 70 of them.

Therefore i tried to open the gpx in EasyGPS but this results with an error:
easygps_error_gzcii.jpg

The exported gpx is inserted here as an attachment

There is an illegal character (^D) in line 8292 of your GPX file. Perhaps this one needs escaping, too. This character is in the description of Cache
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC10BEE . Interestingly, the cache description looks broken in Firefox, too. I wonder what a pocket query with that cache would look like...

If I remove this character, xmllint accepts the GPX. I'm attaching the fixed GPX file, could you please try it on your Oregon (mine is in the car, as usual :) )

Thank you Derlbear for telling me what the coloured dots meant :)

Instead from using colored dots, I had suggested using cache/waypoints icons instead. The same icons from the WptTypes folders can be reused and this surely will make the GPS Monitor a lot more attractive and less confusing for those having difficulty seeing colors(bright light/color blindness/etc) on the screen. Not a must but surely a good to have.

cheers,

Hi Tom,

Went out at the weekend with my family and did some geocaching. Everything worked really well and we completed the cache tour with ease. I just have a few suggestions for your consideration.

1. Would it be possible to have a shortcut to the static maps from the gps monitor page. In the menu under "Google Maps" you could have "Static Maps" and a sub menu containing the link to each static map.... Huge area map, Large area map etc....

2.Would it be possible to customise the static maps a little more or add a larger scale satelite view. The pinpoint map was very useful at the weekend (especially when offroad) but sometimes too close for the situation at hand.

3. I think it has already been mentioned but it would be handy if you could create static maps on the fly from "Target Location" or "Waypoint" coordinates.

Thanks again for all your efforts.

Dave.

    ver 0.2.35.61

    Hi

    Ver 0.2.35.61

    1) "Sort by" => "Cache" => "Member Only" menu added.
    2) "Exclude Member Only cache from result" option added.
    (Option => Search Settings)

This works for English version only.
To test, rename "GCzII.exe.04xx.mui" if use Language skin.

I will build Language skin on weekend if no issue.

    Thanks

    tom

    PS) Need help translation!!!

English: "Exclude Member Only cache from result"
    German: ""
    French: ""
    Czech: ""
    Japanese: "Member Onlyキャッシュを検索結果から除く"

Probablly, the big wave has come at GC.com.
The new changes might be huge impact for GCz.
(Don't know what happen after the maintenounce.)

The first release date of GCz is Dec/17/2008.
So, it was 2 years ago. Time is faster!!

I always tried to fix problems as soon as possible.
And I've got lots of feedback to improve GCz from members here.
I really appriciate all of you!!

Now, I have not decided yet what will continue or dis-continue to work for GCz.
It depends on the side effect of the maintanouce.

I hope, it will not be catastrophic destruction.

    thanks
