This does not work at all for me after trying 10+ times.

I cam able to enter CWM no problem. However, when hitting install zip from sdcard it does not do anything. When it does do something it keeps going back to the top.

I'm not even able to reboot, have to force close...

You might try locerra's CWM but it's not temporary. I used it and it worked for me.

Just a warning this temporary cwm is extremely dangerous, it triggers the brick bug in certain situations. Especially do not use it to wipe anything!

Is this proven already? I heard this news on the galaxy note but haven't heard on the 7.7 though it's better to be cautious. :)

^^^ Many thanks Sherif & kencad for the above. Could one of you please explain how I can root my Galaxy Tab 7.7 using the above?

If possible I'd like to root without having to backup my data or having to reinstall the apps and set everything up again.

here`s the root for 6800 http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1756304

& here for 6810 http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1780140

Just choose the one for your model & install via CWM.

Thanks but after tying the above with CWM it does not work.

When running CWM it will not allow me to choose ''install zip from sdcard''. It does not respond when pushing the volume rocker & it keeps going back to the top.

Many people in the very same forum had the same problem & it did not work for most people...

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Did you use locerra's CWM recovery? I used before the temporary cwm but I also read a news that the temp cwm might trigger the brick bug as it did to galaxy note. That's why I used locerra's because it doesn't trigger the brick bug chip.

Also, rooting will not delete your data.

Did you find the root. Zip?

I have the HK version which I upgrded to ICS 4.0.4 succeefully. Is there any consideration I have to take in order to perform the right root?

Installs fine, but no root

I've now installed several times. The process looks fine....install temp CWM, and then find and install root. You'd think it was a successful root. After rebooting, Root Checker says it isn't rooted, and SuperSU can't put in its su binaries.
