I'm having trouble installing 2.7.1.

Latest TWRP
Factory reset
MD5 checks out*
*I downloaded twice, the MD5 calculator compares the two hash as "<>", but here they are:

The .zip opens fine.

1st install, Aroma exits fine, reboot, hangs at "SAMSUNG"
2nd and 3rd install, Aroma hangs, battery pull, boot, hangs at "SAMSUNG"

I also noticed that I was presented with _some_ option screens (transparencies, colors, call recording, boot animation, etc.), but nothing for apps or launchers.

I searched, but did not find any obvious fix.

This is not my first rodeo, but I feel like these are noob questions.

Help?

Ill typically wipe system, factory reset, cache, and dalvik cache. That usually gets me through no problem. You can also try switch the download to your phones memory or sd card and see if that helps.

Sounds like you are flashing the "custom" flash, which is meant for a subsequent flash. The initial flash should always be done with the full install.

Evo, perhaps a message in parentheses after the "custom" option with a "heads up" will avoid this. Seems like several have done this thinking the full install installs everything without giving you a chance to customize. I know I almost did, and I've been around the block here a few times.

I hope that's your problem snowman, b/c it's an easy fix.

Meet--it makes perfect sense now. The second option is for post-flash option tweaking. The first option is full install with options. I misunderstood and thought that the second option is the alternate, customizable installation routine. Duh!!

Yes, but you won't need to do the custom unless you want to change something that you didn't like with the full. Fair warning though at least for me every time I've tried to do the custom it hangs at the end and I have to do a battery pull but I think its work afterwards.

Yeah, I think if there's a short note in the AROMA installation it would make things crystal clear, or maybe just change the names of the options to something like "Customizable Full Install" and "Customization Flash (for subsequent flashes only)".

Cincy/Ev, while you're at it, why don't you put a little note with the "S Suggest" option: something like "S Suggest (custom S-Pen screenshots)".

I noticed that Aroma will exit properly every time I freshly copy the .zip to SD. After that first install (full or custom), it will not exit properly.

Hello, first time using a Rom that uses Aroma. Is there any way to go back and change settings once I've installed the Rom, without wiping everything? I tried them out, but I'd like to disable the Louder Speakers and Autocorrect Samsung Keyboard, as well as enable S Suggest (for "lasso screenshots"). Any way to do these without wiping my data?

Edit: Okay, I figured out how to get back into Aroma and make changes (forum search function ftw, sorry...) but I didn't see any way to get S Suggest back on to my phone. Any suggestions?

To make any of the app choices you need to choose the full install again but you don't need to wipe again, although cache and dalvik never hurt. S Suggest is under the full install.

Wow, 3 thanks in one day, after 5 years! I'm on a roll! :victory:

Switched to 2.7.1 last night, and just for curiosity I wiped everything and restored data (dirty flash?) and at the moment haven't had any issues. If anyone cares the Time Warner Cable live TV works out of the box on this ROM and v2.6, just have to turn off Developer Options first.

I think someone else mentioned this but the flashlight problem still isn't fixed, but I know that doesn't have anything to do with my dirty flash.

I use Nova launcher and in the Novasettings (works on apex as well) there is a buttons and gestures area and you can change what the home button does. I set it to go to the google search app if I am already on the home screen. Than it brings up the google now window.

Im having a problem with the notification bar turning gray in some apps and its difficult to see the time and signal strength. Is there anyway to correct this?

You have transparent status on, set it to no transparency and you will be fineuploadfromtaptalk1362227323125.jpg

    4. Boot phone into CWM or TWRP (hold Vol up, Home, & Power Button)
