To start in safe mode :
Turn off the device .
Turn on the device . When the android figure come up press and hold down the volume down button.
Another possibilty is from shutdown menu. hold down the restart until the restart in safe mode is not coming up.

All of above should be installed from cwm or twrp recovery.Copy the zip files to your internal storage's root folder (mnt/sdcard). How to install cwm recovery is here :CWM recovery installation
If you have problems backing up (hangs while backup) use this cwm recovery:
7" modified cwm recovery
10" modified cwm recovery
Important to make a backup in cwm before you install this rom. (in cwm choose backup option, your backup will be stored on internal storage's clockworkmod folder). This case if you wish you can restore your original rom from cwm using restore option .
If your backup is done do a wipe data/factory reset in cwm before installation.
To install choose install zip from sdcard option in cwm recovery and browse to the zip file on your internal storage's root folder.

Vodafone HU SmartTab7 Stock rom recovery package (v03a , installable from cwm)
Vodafone HU SmartTab10 Stock rom recovery package (v03a, installable from cwm)

TWRP Recovery (Current Release v2.3.1.1):
I have ported the new graphical touch recovery(TWRP) to our device. All credits goes to Teamwin , i just port it to our device . It cannot restore backups made by cwm.

Download :
http://goo.im/devs/joestone/twrp
This new version(2.2.2.1) is needed for automatic rom updates through goomanager. The new rom versions will be automatically updateable , but only with twrp .
Also this new version is available to install as a zip from recovery (cwm or twrp) or as previous(img) through fastboot.
The filenames contains the modelcode which it belongs to.
for example :
V11_TWRP.zip is for smarttab10 and installable from recovery(cwm or twrp).
V71_recovery.img is for smarttab7 and installable from bootloader mode (fastboot) .

This is the start screen.

Here you can select wether to use internal or external storage of the tab. If selecting external don't forget to select mount SDCard
287518_fb02.thumb.jpg

Selecting Install you can browse which file to install. Remember the internal storage accessible under data/media , while external storage is sdcard-ext.
287518_fb03.thumb.jpg

Backup menu let you create backup of the device including some part of the firmware. If you see 0 MB Free space as on the picture select refresh sizes.
Usually it happens with the internal storage.
287518_fb04.thumb.jpg

We can reboot the device several ways including Power Off.
287518_fb05.thumb.jpg

Under Advanced there is a file manager which can be used to copy , move or delete files .

Wifi is dropping recently with WPA2/PSK (Belkin router)

The screen is sometimes crashing for a sec.
Lock screen is falling apart after you rotate the tab.

Testing continuous.

Thanks for your work joe.

Testing it for now, despite from some graphical glitches, everything works fine. Looking forward in battery behavior... expected some improvement.
Anyway, whole system is pretty much smooth and responsive...

Thx Joe.

running on my ST 10. Still early days, but the idea here is to identify all the areas that are not working, besides the obvious ones you have already listed.

Busy getting the source, and I am going to try and learn quickly here.

RIL

Joe

OK. Maybe not the best place to start for ca complete noob, but I'm diving into the ril stack.

Still allot to digest, but I'm looking at the RIL logs to see what's up...

From what I can tell you did include the vendor RIL is present in this build, right?

also the build.props has the neccesary entries for ril?

Still it's failing at quite an early stage, so perhaps the vendor RIL is not correct...

are there any sources available for the ZTE devices?

I hope that I'm not going to frustrate you, but I'd like to contribute.

All vendor lib are present in the rom and the settings are also present in build.prop nor the framework settings are present in overlay. If you check the running processes rild is running , the baseband version is shown , stk is show up the menu from sim. I have enabled showing logs for ril , libril-qc and it says sim pin status is unavailable ,invalid command received . As i remember (i am at work) icccardapplication.java is shown in logcat beside this rilj message. I think we must use the vendor ril from HC or it will not be compatible with modem firmware . So i think it not a solution to copy another device's libril-qc-qmi-1.so because it wont be compatible with our modem firmware i think. The solution is to solve this invalid command error in framework. That is also not a solution to copy libril.so and rild from hc because it does not solves the problem.
If you have time to check the sceen bug or BT would be very good too .
Of course there can be some mistakes I made , but I think ril files should be OK .
I have ideas how to solve ril problems and as you can see I have done some checks on it . The vendor ril source is not opensource therefore not available.

ok great.

I see what you are refering too in the logs, also ERR 1037. Saw some posts elsewhere about 128k sims (usim), but not relevant, since I have a 64K sim.

I'll let you plough through the RIL, I'll look into Bluetooth. Not sure where to begin with the Graphic glitches yet, however they are quite crippling to the rom...

will google a bit about the libs you are using.

Thanks for taking the time to explain yourself.... It helps me learn... hopefully I can eventually help!

Also while searching I saw your post on CM forum about the rild. Hopefully someone there can help.

Thx

Is your pin turned off ?
does data connection work using gsm ?
apn list is empty or not ?

Sorry , but I have restored my tab to hc for daily work .

Data

Hi Joe.

Also played around with the Data last night...

My operator is also recognised, but only under following conditions:
* WIFI on
* After reboot.

The moment I switch off WIFI it dies.

Also. APN list is empty (actually invisible). Adding an additional APN has no effect also.

No SIM pin. Tried both 2G & 3G modes.

Hi Joe

Only thing I could find so far is a couple of lines not in init.rc for bluetooth services...

Don't know if they are actually relevant

service hfag /system/bin/sdptool add --channel=10 HFAG
user bluetooth
group bluetooth net_bt_admin
disabled
oneshot

service dun /system/bin/sdptool add --channel=2 DUN
user bluetooth
group bluetooth net_bt_admin
disabled
oneshot

service hsag /system/bin/sdptool add --channel=11 HSAG
user bluetooth
group bluetooth net_bt_admin
disabled
oneshot

Important to make a backup in cwm before you install this rom. (in cwm choose backup option, your backup will be stored on internal storage's clockworkmod folder). This case if you wish you can restore your original rom from cwm using restore option .
If your backup is done do a wipe data/factory reset in cwm before installation.
To install choose install zip from sdcard option in cwm recovery and browse to the zip file on your internal storage's root folder.

This new version(2.2.2.1) is needed for automatic rom updates through goomanager. The new rom versions will be automatically updateable , but only with twrp .
Also this new version is available to install as a zip from recovery (cwm or twrp) or as previous(img) through fastboot.
