i'd thought i'd start a new thread where more people might see it.

if your TF300 still has build 9.4.3.17 you can root it using SparkyRoot
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1526487

this worked like a charm on my TF300. if you updated to 9.4.3.26 like my wife did it won't work :(

*UPDATE*
now that asus has posted the .17 firmware
.26 can be downgraded to .17 then rooted. using method 2 from here
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1622628

or the one click method from here
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=25508554&postcount=52

you need the BLOB file from the .17 firmware zip from the asus support site.
after your rooted download Voodoo OTA RootKeeper from the market to backup root.
with that backup you can update to .26 OTA and restore root. if you apply the update from the zip you loose root.

just so it's clear non of this is my work . just trying to help disperse the info.

Wish I would have seen this before I updated. We really need a new section for the TF300.

From what I've read, normally you pull the blob from the update file... But, we don't have an update file for .17... so I have no idea how we would get it.

VERY IMPORTANT, ACTUALLY MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO:

As soon as you're rooted, get Voodoo OTA rootkeeper. its free from the marketplace. then open that app up and Save and backup your root. REPEAT, SAVE & BACKUP YOUR ROOT. you will kick yourself in da a$$ if you don't..lol. then now you can update to the latest firmware for 300, which is .26 or whatever. Once you update, you will initially lose root. but no worries. you just open up the voodoo app and restore your root. Now you are rooted again on latest firmware. you will use this method from now one to restore root after a firmware update. there has already been confirmation of a 300 owner rooting on.17, then using voodoo to save/backup his root, then update to .26. then using voodoo to restore root. now he is rooted on latest .26 firmware for 300.

you will be sorry if you don't use voodoo to save your root. even if you don't immediately update afterwards. only reason root is working on 300 is because its the ones with .17 firmware. there is no root method currently available or even in developement yet, as far as we know, That will work on .26 or higher. SO BACKUP N SAVE YOUR ROOT FILE WITH VOODOO OTA keeper. do it immediately, don't wait. I've seen too many people gripe and cry about losing root because they forgot to backup n save root. now they are stuck on latest firmware and can't root. that was at first but now prime has downgrade methods that seem to work for some. but this hasn't been confirmed to work on 300 though since there is no blob file posted for .17.

Possible way to obtain .17 blob?

Anyone know if using a rooted device on .17 we could obtain the files needed to use blob tools to pack the blob?

So can this backup be shared? Can I use a copy of your backup?

Not quite sure mine had the update available as soon as I connected to wifi. Have you tried manually checking for the update?

I have root on .17 . Since I got this tablet I have manually tried pulling the. 26 update. Nada. Thank god. I do have a question though. What is everyone using for an overclock app?

You'd need a Kernel that could support overclocking.

There are people reporting that the stock kernel supports up to 1.5 GHz. This also seems to be confirmed by the fact that cpu spy says under unused clock speeds "1400 MHz, 1500MHz." Haven't been able to try it myself yet though. I was foolish and updated.

Yea I just found easy overclock in prime section. Works great. I got 5210 On quandrant and 14600 on cf-bench. Running 1.6ghz on performance 1.4ghz on balanced and 1.0ghz on saver.

Well that's a shame. So as far as we know now, there is no way to obtain root on a device which has been OTA updated by people without the foresight to reject it? (Like me)?

There is currently no root available yet, but given time there will be. Someone just needs to find an exploit, or wait for the ASUS bootloader unlock tool to support our devices and then someone can build CWM for the tab and then we can flash root via CWM.

no because you wont be able to get into the file system area where the file needs to be put at. Root access is needed to get into there.

300 stock kernel supports it already. people have already confirmed overclock working

EzOverclock app. the simplest way to overclock once rooted. its in the prime developement section and its free. Technically, once this app is installed, after you already rooted, you are instantly overclocked.

Does my posts show up on this site? About 8 posts up and 12 posts I stated I have root on my tf300 and used ezoverclock to overclock to 1.6ghz.

Can someone post a download link for .17? It seems that asus has taken it down.

Try: http://www.dynazu.com/ for .17 and .26 --- sorry it took so long to get it up.

I put a tutorial together since it might be hard for others.

First you will have to install ADB following this tutorial
    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1427008

but I will post it here as well with pictures as well

    1.Download the Google SDK file
    37494662.png

    2.Download Java JDK
    53604762.png

    35026105.png

3.Install the Java JDK file first then look for the Google SDK file and extract it to your C:\ drive then I recommend renaming the file to "android-sdk"
    11589159.png

    4. Run SDK Manager and install the following items.
    30432786.png

Now you should have the following items in your "android-sdk" folder
    69895471.png

5.Now do the following : Right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings >Advanced (Tab) > Environment Variables > Under System Variables scroll and dbl click on Path then add the following at the end. ";C:\android-sdk\tools;C:\android-sdk\platform-tools"
    89187643.png

6.Open CMD and type ADB, if you did it right, you will see proper ADB jargon regardless if you are in the correct directory or not!
    87912458.png

    7. Now download the .17 blob from http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?m=ASUS+Transformer+Pad+TF300T

8.Open the Zip and then extract the zip inside. Now open that zip and extract the Blob to the root of your Tablet!

9.Once you have the blob file on the root of your tablet you have to go on the tablet and go to settings > developers > and check USB debugging on

    10. The tablet should now be connected to the computer! Open up Command Prompt and type in "adb" then type in "adb shell". It should now say shell@android:/$

11.Now you can follow the Wolf's Root Method 2.
    http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=25385687&postcount=1

    12. Now you can root it with SparkRoot! http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1526487

13.after youre rooted download Voodoo OTA RootKeeper from the market to backup root.
with that backup you can update to .26 OTA and restore root. if you apply the update from the zip you loose root.
