the phone is pretty new and has to be developed and explored by a proper amount of devs, people.
secondly we need a development section here on XDA. i wrote the admins, the will think about it and open it soon...

Root not working

I am able to root the Ace with Super One click, as in it adds superuser in the apps. however when I run the SU test, su allow no prompt comes up. I wanted to use root explorer but that app does not get root access.

has anyone been able to get root access to Galaxy Ace that actually works.

using 2.2.1 S5830XEKB1 tried with stock ROM to same result.

Any help will be appreciated.

mine is OK. i root it with superoneclick 1.7, then the root become avalaible.. the important thing is U MUST REBOOT YOUR GALAXY ACE.

mine not working too before but after reboot.. all works like charm!

just want to ask you all about the batery usage of galaxy ace.. how to kept it power for 1 day and half? coz mine like half of day... turn off all wifi bluetooth, 2G connection and using tune CPU also..
if theres any solution..keep me inform.. thank you.

-using nearly screen brithness zero
-wifi 3g ONLY on when needed
-wifi connections, uncheck informations about net
-samsung updates to never
-never using flight mode, just uncheck 3g and wifi overnight (flight mode costs 10-15%)

with these settings and following usage:
-15min gps, tracking record
-about 4 hours screen on and playin around with internet, apps on wifi, 3g

i get this one and 17 % left (the last 17 % always keeps a half day alone!)

First impressions: Great phone.
Although I have a SGS, I just got an SG Ace, updates to newest S5830XEKB1 firmware, rooted with SuperOneClick 1.71 and everything working.
Although my hands are pretty big, the ACE looks to be more comfortable in my hands than the SGS.
Screen is very nice, bit less sharp than the AMOLED on the SGS but still beautifull. Responsiveness is very good, 2.2.1 definitely doing it's work well here.

ROMS for Galaxy Ace S5830

Hi,

Is it possible to put a ROM from a different model like for example Samsung I5700 Spicia or any other compatible? Will it brick the phone? Have someone has the original ROM for S5830?

Also if someone knows a good site with the newest ROMS for Samsung phones i'd be delighted to know it...

I had the same problem. I was advised that a memory cleaner causes this issue. I uninstalled the memory cleaner i'm using. So far haven't encountered this issue. I will let you know if this is not the case.

read only

when I root my s5830 i can see everything in the system but cannot do anything with it. Can't delete unneeded programs cannot add ringtones to the notification folder it is read only. My TAB both the external SD card and internal card are visable on my computer so I can move files

By Default System is in ReadOnly mode, Mount it with write Access, use root explorer or other tools available in market

just want to ask you all about the battery temperature. why is that even if the phone in standby mode and the screen is off.. the battery suddenly heats up? thanks!

Yeah even i have felt the back of the phone heating up, i presume its due to the processor maybe there is some heat dissipation vent somewhere.

Btw i just checked in Darky forum and we all ace users may have to wait till someone develops a custom rom, should not use a custom rom from another phone.

im considering to change to samsung galaxy SL or S2.. hahaha.. must start saving now..

this is actually a very good phone.. no lag at all.. size to handle.. just battery is worring me.. must charge all the time..

custom rom.. come on.. show urself up! hahahaha... maybe we should build a new forum tittle developement of samsung galaxy ace custom rom! ahhahahah

I don't know why do not the mods open up a forum for Samsung Galaxy Ace.
They have forum for phones which have been just announced and not available in the market.
It just doesnt make any sense..

I have Ace rooted with SuperOneClick v1.6.1.
After some time I need to do hard reset. Can I make hard reset with rooted Ace, or I must do unroot before hard reset?
