Does the APK you're trying to sideload contain spaces in its name? If so, you need to remove the spaces. It will only work if there are no spaces in the APK's name.

there no spaces and ive even changed the name to one letters and words to not have spaces still nothing.

are the apks we are trying to install be in a certain place or folder?

What does the command prompt say when you attempt to sideload an app?

so i get two things, depending on where the apk file is.

1 - The system cannot find the path specified.
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
connected to 192.168.1.11:5555
too many files specified; only takes APK file and verifier file

C:\Program Files (x86)\FTV>

2 - The system cannot find the path specified.
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
connected to 192.168.1.11:5555
can't find 'E:\Dropbox\Android' to install

C:\Program Files (x86)\FTV>

Try creating a directory in the root of your main HDD (I'm assuming C:\) and naming it something without spaces (just aftv or something). Then place your APK (again without spaces) in that directory.

I am having trouble side loading any apps. I keep getting "rm failed for /data/local/tmp/nameof.apk, No such file or directory". do I have to have the AFTV hooked directly to my computer or by ethernet cable? I am hooked up wirelessly at the moment. thanks!

oh also, before it says that, it says "error: device offline - waiting for device -"

X86 ?

So, I assume this won't work on a 32 bit system. I tried it on my old XP. And it says not a valid Win32 application. Anyone aware of any that would work? I understand just the manual method should work. But I am not having any luck.

Help?

OK, I am sorry to post a question again. But I am going on three weeks and still having no luck. If anyone is willing to give me any advice maybe PM me so I don't clog up this thread?

I am thinking my problem could either be my old PC (XP) or my router?

Things I have tried (Many times)

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2736774 (The Fire TV side app installer) I assume it won't run on my computer- I get not a valid 32 bit application or somerthing close to that.

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2736278 XBMC Installer for FireTV for Windows (by Senaxx) This one at least seems like it gets close. I get it to say it connects, but always says it can't locate the file. I have tried several different versions (of XBMC.apk) with no luck.

I have tried manually. But I have a problem using the terminal (CMD) I am not real sure how to move do different location. I can't get it to open in the platform-tools location. I see entering (CD ..) will remove the last item on the location. But when I even just put the files in C>FTV It still says it can't find it. And I get long error messages about invalid command when I try any adb kill-server,adb connect etc.

I even tried the android phone one and still got the message that it couldn't find the file.

Could this be a problem with my router seeing something? The Sennax one did say it connected though.

By the way, I am not sure if I have SDK installed correctly, I don't really understand what I need to do with it after the download. I am not sure if I may need a JAVA update or some other program to run it correctly.

Anyone?

I mentioned this in that thread, but you might have missed it.
The apk needs to be named exactly "xbmc- -Gotham-armeabi-v7a.apk", without quotation marks and a space between - -. A bit of an oversight by Senaxx I guess.

That worked. I thought I had read that there could be no spaces. Makes me think the manual method should have worked for me also. Thanks !!!

I didn't see anyone else mention it while scrolling through but is anyone else having an issue with the GUI just being completely black? Black background and black letters. I can only see the outline of the press boxes and the empty field for the IP

Try changing your windows theme to the default settings as it might be related. Let me know the result. Someone else mentioned something similar.

    Hi Guys,

I've created GUI app to easily sideload your apks to the Amazon FTV & Stick.... I will be updating it over time with extra bells and whistles.

Please take note that this app contains Towel root exploit which some virus checkers will report a false positive. (This app is 100% virus free)

I do not take any responsibility if you root your device and it gets bricked.

The link below will direct you to the download page where you will find the app.

    attachment.php

    Download website link:
Main [Mod edit: download links removed (PPC links are not allowed).
    or
Backup link Mod edit: link removed (pay-per-click links not allowed)

    1. Unzip the folders to "C:\FTV"
    2. Launch app "Amazon FireTV Utility App.exe"

    I've tested it on Win7, Win8, and Win10.

Feel free to ask any question's, post any comments or concerns, or make suggestions for things you might like to see
